I was gonna post that I have children older than the gameboy then I checked Wikipedia and Gameboy was released 2 years prior to my first brood.

Those small details are the reason this build is awesome.  :cheers:

Can't wait to see the giant carts. Have you planned how you're going to cut the "concave" logo? Has anyone with a CNC offered to help?

We've thought of a number of things, Vac form, CNC etc etc

we have access to a few tools between us, but we haven't really thought too much about yet if i'm honest. we still have to upscale the male/female cart sockets first.

anybody know where i can get Gameboy "spare parts" ... namely, game cart socket....and a blank game cartridge slot?

Nice work on the detailing. I want to see a giant pair of hands reaching down from the roof to play this monster. When it's done you need to make a mock tv commercial with it.

we had a few ideas about how to do the contrast and volume wheels...... this is what we went with.... we're very happy with the results;

Very nice! I love the fact that you even have the little grooves on the side of the wheel. That's attention to details.  :applaud:

I think I got here just in time. I don't see any mention of or any pictures of a name/logo.

This needs to be called Game Man.

I think I already voiced my opinion on why this one fails a couple pages ago.  :D

The moment the first sheet of wood for this build was purchased was the same moment it's coolness surpassed the one in those links.  No comparison.

Doing the raised letters on the carts shouldn't be too hard.

1. Using a stencil of the word "Nintendo" draw and then cut out the letters.
2. Make the giant concave area around the cut outs.
3. Add a thin layer of wood under the concave section,
4. Place the cut out letters back into the holes of the concave section.

Vola, raised letters on a concave area.  No carving or CnC needed.

Sure, no argument from me.  I was merely referring to the name of an existing project.

The sheer attention to detail in this project is inspirational to say the least.  :notworthy:

I wonder if Nintendo themselves would buy it once completed. It would make an awesome work of art to have in their lobby in Japan.  ;D

I dug through my bins, I have a Super gameboy I'd gladly donate to the cause, I'll even pay shipping. I think I have a wrestling cart for it too.

Thanks really sweet of you man.....however we're gonna try our best to go Gameboy hardware......even if that means it takes a little longer (or we have to run emulators in the interim)

Kudos for the offer tho fella thanks!

we haven't discussed doing scale screw-heads......we have however discussed sound output using headphones...........big headphones.........just ideas however, nothing is set in stone....the on-board speaker will be functional.

The Gameboy VGA struggle

As some of the Gameboy project followers are aware. One of our main concerns was how to output the Gameboy’s screen to a VGA monitor. This has given us a major headache, as we simply having no idea (at all) how to do this.
We searched the internet hi and low and found nothing but “dead-end” projects. We finally stumbled across this gem of a site;

http://www.fpgaarcade.com/

The owner of the site (AKA Mike), is in the progress of developing and manufacturing a FPGA board designed specifically for the gaming/Arcade community. The “Replay” board...............Click here to read the full article
