help with USB Zero Delay Encoder over long wire

The grounds on the USB ZD encoder are all connected to the same ground buss.  You can use just one wire for each input and daisy chain the grounds if you want.

this is true. it does use a common ground. BUT on my zd board, the ground and positives are reversed for some odd reason.

The grounds can easily be seen on the board by turning over.   All the outside pins are connected together.  On some of the boards I have had this was the colored wire not the black wire.  Now I have white and blue wires so there is no color that represents ground just the pin position.

Thanks but what I was after boba answered. I guess a clearer question would've been to ask what the pinout of the encoder is.
