It's a brokerage scam to be brutally honest. UPS feels like they can charge whatever they want. They get away with it too. In future, find a cheap broker. I'd check PBB - Peace Bridge Broker - I've heard good things over the years. |

I was under the assumption it was to be sent USPS "Priority Mail International Small Flat Rate Box" since that was the cheapest option and that's what I payed for. :dunno i'm going to try this: http://trueler.com/2010/09/13/ups-brokerage-fees-total-scam-fraud-cheating-avoid-it/ |

You do NOT need to accept UPS as your import broker. They can hum and haw all they want, but you DO get this choice! |

according to the site, all i have to do is refuse to pay the brokerage fee and tell them i will clear the package myself with the canada border services agency. take the slip from CBSA and go pick up my package. there is a CBSA down the way at the airport, i'll report back once I've sorted this all out so people don't get screwed in the future with UPS. |

If you buy things consistently from the U.S., it doesn't hurt to have a brokerage account in your back pocket. They're literally nothing to set up - just an address and sometimes, a credit card - and you have peace of mind every time you order that UPS isn't going to try and snipe your shipment. |
