Finding Male to Male PS2 Keyboard Cables

Pages: (1/1)

Southern Dad:

First, I've been lurking for a while on this site and have learned, a LOT.  The problem was that I ordered an IPAC from a seller on eBay.  It arrived with an S-Video cable which is great if you are hooking up an old DVD to a television, not so great if you are connecting an IPAC to a computer.  I searched this site and the web pretty thoroughly to try and find where you would get a PS/2 serial keyboard cable with male connections at each end without much luck.  I even encountered a few posts from people saying that they were rare and difficult to find.

Then the answer hit me.  A KVM cable has exactly what I need and it has a VGA cable as well and they are inexpensive.  How convenient.  I'm not a vendor.  I don't work for Fry's  I just wanted to share this resource for anyone who, like me was looking for a Male-to-Male PS/2 cable.

S video? Do you mean the PS/2 port?
They look a lot a like but they are not compatible. See attached picks for the difference. The top one is the PS/2 and the bottom one is S-video.

I just looked at my I-pac to confirm that it has the PS/2 lay out. I think what you need is a mail PS/2 to usb adapter or wire.  You will probably bend some pins if you try to force an S-video cable in.

Both CoryBee and Fursphere links are for mail to mail PS/2 cables. It looks like yours might be a PS/2 cable as well but I just wanted to clear it all up.

Edit: I see, the seller made the mistake and you already under stand they are not the same thing.
