Ok After 10 years away from mame..what do I need now to play?

Yup.  Same for the NAOMI games being mentioned.  Most NAOMI games are on Dreamcast, as they are very similar hardware that were developed together by Sega.  An actual Dreamcast is very cheap, as are VGA cables/adapters for it (or you could make on from an RGB SCART cable even cheaper).  Some of the NAOMI games, like Ikaruga (great game), are import only, but can be run without a mod chip either by using a boot disc or by burning a patched disc.  Google it, let's not talk about that any further here.
