Looking for small 20 wire connector
tony.silveira:
hi all,
i received my displayport cables today thinking i had a long night of wiring ahead of me but after stripping down the end of one, it only has 15 useable wires (and 1 common ground).
so, i'm on the hunt for a connection type that can handle 20 wires and i would very much like something small and compact. i may be able to get by with 17 connections instead of 20.
i've searched high and low for something small and compact and thought i had it with the displayport but even though it has 20 pins, they don't feed straight thru.
anyone have any suggestions? might there be a displayport cable where all 20 pins feed straight thru?
any ideas guys?
thanks

does the connection happen at a panel - if so, dsub 20 with solder cups would be a great connector. same as a parallel printer port.

sorry guys, wasn't very clear.
it's not the cable thickness i have in mind, it's the connectors at the end. i'm looking for small and compact. the parallel and centronics that have the wire count are just to big on those ends.
the thought is to mount it to my panel and my swappable controllers will drop in and plug in.
