Daytona Dashboard Parts?
« on: September 01, 2013, 12:12:55 am »
Has anyone sourced out the buttons from the Daytona dashboards?  (the 4 square + 1 round panel on the left side specifically).

My round button is cracked, and I was wonder if other color lenses are available.

thanks

Maybe its not the Daytona - maybe its the Scud Racer dash?    I can't keep them straight.  :)

I haven't seen a source for new parts.  Those things are gold.
Ebay or used arcade websites are your best bet.
Andy Geezer usually has that stuff, but he's in the UK.

Video lottery terminal (VLT) buttons are about the same size.  They aren't a drop in replacement.  You'd have to ditch the circuit board behind the current buttons and replace them all.  There might be a way to graft the front of one onto the current button.
Happ sells them for big $$$.
There was a guy selling the rectangular ones as "Daytona replacements" on ebay fairly cheap, but he's down to only 3 colors now.
(I bought three sets  ;) )

Here is a pic of mine...  I'm still sanding the dashboard to get the cigarette burns out of it, thats why its "white" in spots.  My square buttons are fine, I'm just not sure I like the "rainbow" color scheme.

Got a link to that ebay guy?  :)

They aren't SEGA view buttons.  They're the medium rectangle VLT buttons:

I have a set of the small square ones that I bought from Happ.  They look exactly the same as the rectangular ones I got from this guy.
They look really sweet with color matched LEDs inside.

By the time you add the crimp-on terminals, the tabs need bent to fit them in the cab.  On the next set I do, I'm just going to solder them and cover with brush on electrical tape.

Just remembered that I have a start button on an Initial D dash that didn't sell.
I can pop it out and see if it might work, but probably not until Tuesday.

I think I found a source....  somewhere in here

https://www.galco.com/shop/Idec-Pilot-Lights-Pilot-Lights?void=

The Switch is a IDEC LW-C10.   The "button" (pilot?) is the part we'd need to buy...    finding the right one will be tricky
