If you don't mind a bit more complicated solution you could use something like the secret knock door lock. http://www.instructables.com/id/Secret-Knock-Detecting-Door-Lock/ You could then put the button anywhere without worrying if it'll get pushed. You wouldn't need a full arduino to run it, really just a micro controller and a small relay, probably cost like $8 in parts. Now, having said that I think I'll put one on my son's cab, the baby is forever killing it while he's playing. As thanks for the idea, it's as easy to create 2 as it is 1. If your interested PM me and I'll ship one out once I get it made (probably take a few weeks or so to get it slapped together, programmed and such). Just a thought. |

that is cool, but probably a little overkill for what i'm doing. i really think that i'll use one of those cabinet door locks like used on a coin door, and mount a switch so that the lock lever actuates the switch when turned. i already have the lock, i already have the switch. |
