I maintain a similar list at http://webpages.charter.net/celamantia/jukebox/.  The only one I have that you don't is Globecom Jukebox at http://gjukebox.sourceforge.net/.  It's Linux-only, which is probably why it's off your radar...

It would also help if we knew which ones were DOS and which ones were Windows... oh yeah, and Linux and Mac I suppose.

I do have that information on my page at http://webpages.charter.net/celamantia/jukebox/.

What I think is even more useful is to know which ones have remappable controls and whether or not they require (or support) a mouse.  If you're building a dedicated jukebox, it doesn't really matter as you can make the controls match the software you choose, but for jukeboxes in a MAME cabinet, this is a major consideration.  DOSCab, for example, is designed for a panel with sixteen buttons (eight for selection, one for Enter, one for Exit, one for Most Popular two for Next Page/Prev Page, two for First Page/Last Page, and one for Coin, but can support more buttons, such as Skip Song, up to three more coins, and Screen Shot), but it will run on a system with a joystick (Next/Prev/First/Last pages) and five buttons (four for selection, one to exit). If I fix it to allow the pages to wrap around, you could get away with a joystick (for selection) and two buttons (one for next page, one to exit).  But if all you have is a trackball or a touchscreen, the current version won't do you any good. (The next version will...)

The "CD style" jukeboxes usually require a slightly larger number of buttons, but usually also support mouse input.  The media player styles may require a mouse and possibly a keyboard.

Someday I'll install all of these and create a table.  I don't want to do it now, though; I want to finish the next versionm of DOSCab/WinCab without being influenced by any features or specifications of any of these other jukeboxes, so I don't get caught in the position of having appeared to steal someone's ideas (which is important since some of these are commercial products).

You can use any of my ideas that you want. I don't mind. Theres a good chance you would end up thinking of them eventually anyway. Most of mine come from seeing a need for the feature or from suggestions from friends actually using my software.

Another one is DJ2000.  it's not that fancy, not sure if it plays multiple-bitrate mp3s.  Great party mode, guests can search for songs and add to the playlist without mucking anything up.

A few different views, support multiple sound cards and multiple audio and video zones.  So you can route the audio or video to any PC withing your home network.

I agree that's a cool app.. I use that for my TV output for my pictures and stuff since it works good with a remote control also.  I used to have an HPMedia Reciever but that app is much better.  Another one you might want to check out that works kind of like TiVO is..

I tested the Jukeboxer and it seems pretty good.  Does anyone know if it can be skinned?  I don't like the looks of it (I don't need my screen to look like a jukebox).

I have tested several jukebox apps.

I prefer Ultimate Jukebox.  In order for it to work best, you have to have accurate Artist/Album/Genre tags (Genre tags aren't necessary but they're nice).  I use MP3Tag to do that.

I (Space Fractal) have made a new skin-based Jukebox application with the name "Arcade MUSIC box".

It was suited for MameWAH based arcade-cabs, and it has also supporting Vertical monitors.

The Digital DJ Software Description

The Digital DJ is designed for parties where music is essential but a professional DJ is not necessary. It is created for ease of use for all of the guests to use and enjoy.

Party managers will have ultimate control over what music is to-be-played. They will be able to configure the Digital DJ so that it will play the right songs at the right time, or restrict certain songs or genres from being played at all. This is done through smart playlists and timers.

Software Flow/ Organization

The opening screen of the software is divided into three sections

Tunez:

http://tunez.sourceforge.net/

Can be run as a standalone jukebox-style player, or shout/icecast server.  Has a voting system as well as all of the usual jukebox features you'd expect.  Runs "headless" and is accessed via a web interface on any networked machine.

There's a demo system up and running so you can check out the interface.  Not pretty, but very functional.

Looks like a media player, not a jukebox.  If you can't remap its keys and run it without a mouse, it's going to be a poor choice for a cabinet.

It's designed for areas where you have a lot of people at computers who want simple voteing rights to a jukebox without getting off their butt.  I've implemented a similar setup using some different software (not quite as good, but it was many years ago) in a corporate office.  Users could log in once every now and then and vote for their favourite songs, otherwise just random music would play.  It beats the hell out of default hold or elevator music, and means everyone has a say in what they listen to.

But yes, for a standalone jukebox in the corner of the house/room/pub it's not a good choice.

I was going to rain harshly, as we've had a lot of thinly-disguised "Look at the jukebox I've found" from the developers of commercial jukeboxes lately. but after reading their forums I see that you're just a happy user of their jukebox.

So never mind and welcome to BYOAC!

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned, but www.frodoplayer.com is excellent. it'd work best with a touchscreen, but if you rigged up a metric ton of hotkeys you could probably get the job done.

Frodoplayer looks good, but it looks like a media player, not a jukebox. Of course, that just may be the skin I'm seeing... the only screenshot of it I could find so far is at http://gallery.my105e.com/albums/userpics/10002/IMG_0407.jpg.

it really depends on your definition of jukebox. it can do stuff like non-music media and external applications, but the focus is on the music capabilities.

I've look at many jukebox programs, but I'm looking for one that will let you pick an Artist and list ALL songs from that artist in a window on the right.  So, basically, there is no album name or album choice being done.
I have a lot of music, but I may only have a few from certain albums and it's frustrating to scroll thru 5 albums from one artist and only have 15 songs across those 5 albums.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
JD

Virtual Music Jukebox will allow you to do it, you just have to set it up.  I can't remember the folder structure required, but a basic down-n-dirty example:

Folder (artist name)
  |__Folder (artist's name again - it's used as the album name)
      |__All songs from the artist - perhaps number 'em, though

Like that.  I've got a bunch of various stuff, and that's how I set it up to read that folder - and I split it up into 4 folders, each with ~15 songs for ease of browsing.  Leaving it all in one folder resulted in quite the cumbersome list.  Other authors will be able to explain their methods for sorting like that, if they offer the capability you described.

I'm compiling a list of jukebox software for a new website I'm putting it together and I just want to verify some of my findings:

There is 1 DOS-based jukebox software, DOSCab.
There is 0 MacOS-based jukebox software.
There are 2 Linux-based jukebox softwares, Globalcom Jukebox and Tunez.
There is about a million and a half Windows-based jukebox softwares.

Am I missing any minority OS-based jukebox softwares?
