I maintain a similar list at http://webpages.charter.net/celamantia/jukebox/.  The only one I have that you don't is Globecom Jukebox at http://gjukebox.sourceforge.net/.  It's Linux-only, which is probably why it's off your radar...

It would also help if we knew which ones were DOS and which ones were Windows... oh yeah, and Linux and Mac I suppose.

I do have that information on my page at http://webpages.charter.net/celamantia/jukebox/.

What I think is even more useful is to know which ones have remappable controls and whether or not they require (or support) a mouse.  If you're building a dedicated jukebox, it doesn't really matter as you can make the controls match the software you choose, but for jukeboxes in a MAME cabinet, this is a major consideration.  DOSCab, for example, is designed for a panel with sixteen buttons (eight for selection, one for Enter, one for Exit, one for Most Popular two for Next Page/Prev Page, two for First Page/Last Page, and one for Coin, but can support more buttons, such as Skip Song, up to three more coins, and Screen Shot), but it will run on a system with a joystick (Next/Prev/First/Last pages) and five buttons (four for selection, one to exit). If I fix it to allow the pages to wrap around, you could get away with a joystick (for selection) and two buttons (one for next page, one to exit).  But if all you have is a trackball or a touchscreen, the current version won't do you any good. (The next version will...)

The "CD style" jukeboxes usually require a slightly larger number of buttons, but usually also support mouse input.  The media player styles may require a mouse and possibly a keyboard.

Someday I'll install all of these and create a table.  I don't want to do it now, though; I want to finish the next versionm of DOSCab/WinCab without being influenced by any features or specifications of any of these other jukeboxes, so I don't get caught in the position of having appeared to steal someone's ideas (which is important since some of these are commercial products).

You can use any of my ideas that you want. I don't mind. Theres a good chance you would end up thinking of them eventually anyway. Most of mine come from seeing a need for the feature or from suggestions from friends actually using my software.

Another one is DJ2000.  it's not that fancy, not sure if it plays multiple-bitrate mp3s.  Great party mode, guests can search for songs and add to the playlist without mucking anything up.

A few different views, support multiple sound cards and multiple audio and video zones.  So you can route the audio or video to any PC withing your home network.

I agree that's a cool app.. I use that for my TV output for my pictures and stuff since it works good with a remote control also.  I used to have an HPMedia Reciever but that app is much better.  Another one you might want to check out that works kind of like TiVO is..

You can find it here:  www.thejukeboxer.com

I tested the Jukeboxer and it seems pretty good.  Does anyone know if it can be skinned?  I don't like the looks of it (I don't need my screen to look like a jukebox).

I have tested several jukebox apps.

I prefer Ultimate Jukebox.  In order for it to work best, you have to have accurate Artist/Album/Genre tags (Genre tags aren't necessary but they're nice).  I use MP3Tag to do that.

I (Space Fractal) have made a new skin-based Jukebox application with the name "Arcade MUSIC box".

It was suited for MameWAH based arcade-cabs, and it has also supporting Vertical monitors.

The Digital DJ Software Description

The Digital DJ is designed for parties where music is essential but a professional DJ is not necessary. It is created for ease of use for all of the guests to use and enjoy.

Party managers will have ultimate control over what music is to-be-played. They will be able to configure the Digital DJ so that it will play the right songs at the right time, or restrict certain songs or genres from being played at all. This is done through smart playlists and timers.

Software Flow/ Organization

The opening screen of the software is divided into three sections

Tunez:

http://tunez.sourceforge.net/

Can be run as a standalone jukebox-style player, or shout/icecast server.  Has a voting system as well as all of the usual jukebox features you'd expect.  Runs "headless" and is accessed via a web interface on any networked machine.

There's a demo system up and running so you can check out the interface.  Not pretty, but very functional.

Looks like a media player, not a jukebox.  If you can't remap its keys and run it without a mouse, it's going to be a poor choice for a cabinet.

It's designed for areas where you have a lot of people at computers who want simple voteing rights to a jukebox without getting off their butt.  I've implemented a similar setup using some different software (not quite as good, but it was many years ago) in a corporate office.  Users could log in once every now and then and vote for their favourite songs, otherwise just random music would play.  It beats the hell out of default hold or elevator music, and means everyone has a say in what they listen to.

But yes, for a standalone jukebox in the corner of the house/room/pub it's not a good choice.

I was going to rain harshly, as we've had a lot of thinly-disguised "Look at the jukebox I've found" from the developers of commercial jukeboxes lately. but after reading their forums I see that you're just a happy user of their jukebox.

So never mind and welcome to BYOAC!

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned, but www.frodoplayer.com is excellent. it'd work best with a touchscreen, but if you rigged up a metric ton of hotkeys you could probably get the job done.

Frodoplayer looks good, but it looks like a media player, not a jukebox. Of course, that just may be the skin I'm seeing... the only screenshot of it I could find so far is at http://gallery.my105e.com/albums/userpics/10002/IMG_0407.jpg.

it really depends on your definition of jukebox. it can do stuff like non-music media and external applications, but the focus is on the music capabilities.

I've look at many jukebox programs, but I'm looking for one that will let you pick an Artist and list ALL songs from that artist in a window on the right.  So, basically, there is no album name or album choice being done.
I have a lot of music, but I may only have a few from certain albums and it's frustrating to scroll thru 5 albums from one artist and only have 15 songs across those 5 albums.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
JD

Virtual Music Jukebox will allow you to do it, you just have to set it up.  I can't remember the folder structure required, but a basic down-n-dirty example:

Folder (artist name)
  |__Folder (artist's name again - it's used as the album name)
      |__All songs from the artist - perhaps number 'em, though

Like that.  I've got a bunch of various stuff, and that's how I set it up to read that folder - and I split it up into 4 folders, each with ~15 songs for ease of browsing.  Leaving it all in one folder resulted in quite the cumbersome list.  Other authors will be able to explain their methods for sorting like that, if they offer the capability you described.

I'm compiling a list of jukebox software for a new website I'm putting it together and I just want to verify some of my findings:

There is 1 DOS-based jukebox software, DOSCab.
There is 0 MacOS-based jukebox software.
There are 2 Linux-based jukebox softwares, Globalcom Jukebox and Tunez.
There is about a million and a half Windows-based jukebox softwares.

Am I missing any minority OS-based jukebox softwares?

Just start  a new thread.  If that's all you want, folks to try it and see how it works and whatnot, that certainly ain't spam.  Lots of others here post their links, and I'll certainly want to look into it.  You haven't had piles of people with their first post telling us how awesome your $50 software is....I think THAT'S what we'd consider spam.  The obvious attempt to ply our favor.

Do you have a website for it?  Screenshots?  I think you'll find the folks here VERY helpful in tightening up stuff or offering suggestions you never thought of or are easy to implement but weren't considered "final-draft" worthy.

Just start a new thread in this same forum letting us know where your stuff is.   And welcome :)

Ok i don't want my first post to be considered SPAM so i won't go straight in and post a link  ::) What i want to know is where i can post a link to get some willing volunteers to test out some jukebox software i started writting last week. Now i know you might think this is SPAM and i could see why but this was the only forum i could find where there are a lot of people willing to try out different jukebox software. Sorry if i have upset anyone with this post as that is not my intention at all. I would add mine to the list but that would just be spam right? Anyway if anyone can point me in the right direction i would really find it helpfull.

And before you ask, no i am not charging for it. Just with only a couple of testers i am not really going to find out what people want/expect form the software or sort out any bugs.

Thanks in advance
BB

EDIT: After reading some of other threds i would like to mention, i am aiming this mainly at touch screen users but if anyone can give me an insight how the mame cabs work (Keyboard inputs?) i can support thoose as well. I don't know if i can offer you anything that isn't already out there although i might add it supports most videos already and it's skinable.

Start a new thread in this forum. I for one, would be happy to test. I have a Win98 touchscreen. Any limitations on OS?

Thanks!

Silverjuke is now able to be run via a keypad and directionals (more "juke"-like).  That is being beta tested right now, but seems like it is well implemented from initial tests.

Seems like some of you guys have been to their forums checking it out, thought I'd bring it up.

News of the change here:

Ever heard of BPM Jukebox? I've been using it a few months now in combination with a touchscreen and it works fine for me. Large buttons and a good interface.  Have a look here http://www.alcatech.com/html/

It's a professional tool and it's not cheap. I paid about $300 for this program, but imho it's the best so far.   I've tried a dozen other jukebox programs (much cheaper or for free), but most of them don't meet my wishes. This one does.

A planned feature is video support. Check out their  website for further details.

I added some screenshots of this program.

I get the impression that the superjesus posts are nothing more than advertising spam. Why someone would pay $300 for that program is beyond me when there are so many free alternatives on here, that in my opinion operate a lot better for a jukebox app.  ::)

Thanks very much for your 'welcome to the forum' speech, assuming me as a spammer.  :-\

I've only told you what i had done to come to the decision to pay for jukebox software instead of using freebees. And i'm very impressed about all the features this jukebox-program offers. It works flawless and i thought maybe there are other people out there having the same problem ( e.d. not have knowledge of writing software yourself) and have no problem of paying for professional software. Wanted to give a recommendation for "The Jukebox'er"  Excellent program for people that have a trackball.  There are short key commands, but they are not remappable.  I don't require this as I just use my trackball and mouse buttons to navigate.  I have a lot of music so It would take me too long to scroll through album covers.  It may not be for everyone, but it is a very cool program, very good ripper.

Downside is that it cost around $25.  In my opinion worth it, but to each his own.  And no, this is not a plug...just a recommendation.

Their is a fully functional trial period that last for 20 min each time you load it.   And is skinnable
Cheers

Hey,
I was wondering if anyone knew of a PC Jukebox that has the following functions/compatability

Windows XP
Password protected settings
no access to any other programs/functions on the computer without the password
song selection lock except with password
playlist protection, no deleting previous selection
full song list with no sorting, or sorting
doesnt have to be a jukebox layout
mp3 compatibility

i think thats ABOUT it i can't think of anything else at the moment

I have been using EJukebox for a long time and it does all of that. It has a Kiosk mode that will allow you to lock the program fullscreen and prevent ctrl+alt+del etc until you enter your password to exit. You can also have it limit the number of songs added in x minutes, retrict playlist features, and allot more.

At some point in time I am going to go through this thread and update the first post with links.  Then I will split the replies off.  This thread was intended to list jukebox software available, not three replies linking to the same software and praising how much you like it.

I have been trying to keep my list updated in this thred so you might want to use that as the building block for you list. I rmoved a lot of the dead links and tried to mention which ones are shareware etc. Maybe then you could lock the thred so you don't get all the replies tagging on? Just a thought.

Not sure if this program has been emntioned before but I use a program called Command Cubeshttp://www.commandcubes.com

It has every feature I've ever needed in a Jukebox software program.

It was originally designed to work with a touchpanel monitor but works just fine with a mouse/trackball as well.  Has built in screensaver that can be activated as well.

It supports a manual queue, a stacker, playlists, and full random play.  It was also originally designed to work in part with a Home Automation sustem but works just as well stand alone.

It has quite a following and gets updates pretty often.

It also is certified to play over your home network using Barix products so you can have music in every room in your house.  It supports multiple zones that can be playing independantly ot in sync with each other.

And there's a ton more features.

Download the 30 day trial at their website and I think it's like $49.99 for a full copy.

I use it and love it.  Can also control it from any PC that you install the "Viewer" part of the program on...

Anyway,, take a look and see what you think.

I just noticed it, but the juke image in the background of this is from one of my skins for DOSCab/WinCab (the AJ8 skin)!  LOL!

(Edit: Slightly less amused now that I realize Silverjuke is a commercial product.. kind of nasty to steal resources from a free product in support of a commercial one...)

I was not pleased, actually, and left a (slightly snide) note on their forum.  The developer immediately got back in contact with me and apologized; he said he pulled it off Google Images and didn't trace it back to the source.  Seems to be a really nice guy actually; I gave him permission to continue using the image, he immediately modified the skin to give me proper credit, and when I made a comment about borrowing his button images he immediately sent me the original button images.  We even added links to each other, so all turned out well.

As far as the background photo: It's actually a composite of a number of photos, plus original elements.  The top section is from a Wurlitzer, the chrome from a Rowe, the woodgrain and side tubes created by me in Corel Photo-PAINT. Other chrome elements (that he didn't use) come from a variety of sources, including a chrome radiator, and plastic parts from various objects that have been "chromed" in Photo-PAINT.

Has anyone done the research to tell which of these software jukes support touchscreen?

I finally got my ebay special $89 touchscreen/computer working, and it's not handling Barcrest's very well.

I remember Barcrest wanted to help me figure out the problems once, I'm ready now!

I think the PC is just underpowered though.

« Reply #71 on: April 15, 2006, 04:20:21 am »
hi,
like i said to saint in that mail, i discovered a very nice jukebox in holland last year...it is computer based coin-op jukebox with nice shape and nice looking program with new ideas........i want to share this new type with all of you

i am thinking to make it and put it in my bedroom...parts are OK but program is a problem...i wanted to share this  as a new idea with all of u...you can see  the skin of program in the picture.....it look so simple but easy to use....working with an electronic coin validator and buffer keyboard....it has 2 play buttons.....1 is for normal play other is bomb...bomb is for make your song 1. in the queue....for example: u have 5 credits left and if u push bomb rather than play, your song became 1. with 5 credit...if someone have 6 credit than it became first...we had a race like this in the cafe :)
maybe to have a program like this would be more better....i am Dieng to have this
i m looking forward to hear that some one can fix this....I'm sure some of u interest this....i can give more knowledge and more details if someone willing to make this and share with everybody

I ran across this simple touchscreen juke which I did not find in a browse of this thread or forum search:

www.izonsoft.co.uk

Its a very simple interface with somewhat limited features but by design is intended for smaller screens.

I wish it was skinnable though....

A mate of mine wrote his own jukebox app (Windows, but is looking at doing Linux/OS X if there is enough interest)

Let me know what you think.

Still very happy with it by the way and gets a lot of usein my arcade cabinet. I should just get better speakers...

Album Player has been updated for Touch Screen use.  The author has made a dedicated site just for the Touch Screen version:  http://www.touchscreenplayer.com/

Here's a screenshot as well:

OK.... hoping not to sound like an arse here, new to the jukebox software scene. I've gone through this thread a bit and noticed alot of great looking software. Most of which seem to be touchscreen operated and suited best for that purpose. The compiled lists are great, but don't really designate which operation method they are best used for. (keypad or touchscreen)
I have an actual original jukebox with no guts to it and was planning on installing a PC, jukebox software, etc, etc. (fixing it original would be outrageously expensive)
I plan to use the original keypad that is already on the machine just as if it were all back to original aside from a monitor to view.

My question is:
Can anyone recommend a strictly key mappable type jukebox software?
( Not interested in touchscreen options at all )

DOSCab/WinCab Jukebox is completely key-mappable and can adapt to several different control schemes.  What model jukebox are you adapting?

It's an AMI Disco 200.

A friend of mine got a trade deal on three jukes, two just need minor repairs he plans to sell, this one is totally empty of it's inner workings so I'll get that one and help him fix the others. And I had already had my eye on it anyways for this sort of project. So it should work out good. (now that I get a chance to play with it) I haven't actually picked it up yet, so I'm not sure how many keys, etc it has just yet. And I'm not sure how I will do the monitor on it quite yet as I've only seen pictures of it so far. As much of it as possible will remain original.

Thanks for the heads-up on the software. I'll go check those out and play around with them.
I'll try not to disturb this particular thread with my project..... might start a new one somewhere, just needed suggestions on software and the lists in this thread were great but I needed that tid bit of clarification to try a couple out.

EDIT: Started a new thread for the "project" aspect of all this.

Do you even want to put a monitor on it?  You can just use the original titlestrips... I'll be happy to help you configure the software, you'll need a custom skin to match the control panel layout.  But you're right that we shouldn't take up this thread; you may want to re-post it in  the DOSCab/WinCab forum if you want to give it a try.  (Using a DOS-based PC instead of Windows would mean you wouldn't have to wait long for your juke to boot...)

Doh! I posted one that WAS listed... Here is the full list as it stands (Broken links not on this list..)

I am looking for a Windows-based jukebox that will play both MP3s and Music Videos. I went through your list and found quite a few links that need to be changed/updated:

Bad Links

Arcade Jukebox - http://home.att.net/~mark.schwartz/
Frodo Player - http://www.frodoplayer.com/
Album Player - http://www.cdr-zone.com/software/ (could not find on page)

Update Links

Digital Jukebox - http://www.rastaworld.com
(Should be marked as COMMERCIAL/SHAREWARE)

eJukebox - http://www.audiosoft.net/ (WINAMP REQ.)
(Should be marked as Commercial / Download is 30 day trial)

Silver Juke - http://www.silverjuke.net/en/index.html
(Should be marked as Commercial / Download is 14 day trial)

SK Jukebox - http://www.mameworld.net/skjukebox
(Link has changed to http://www.skjukebox.com)

About the only jukebox I've found that does what I want it to is The Jukebox'er, but it seems to be pretty memory intensive for an old 633mhz machine. If anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears.

On that list his picture for PCJukebox is the image of Freebox running the fink diner skin.

If you look at the list of software screenshots one thing that jumps out at me is the fact that a lot of thoose would only really work with a mouse. Would be great if there was a site where somebody actually road tested all the juke software on a touchscreen, arcade cab and a juke with buttons type set up. Obviously it needs to be somebody who is not connected with any of the software authors...

This is why I and Others created wiki jukebox list here on arcade controls. Trying to test and correct the entries on the wiki to accurate as possible. It also listed wich controls it most was suited for (I does have removed touch support in that wiki, since AMB example never was used great with it).

Hope that wŪki goes better for testing software and correct errors.

Otherwice a fine list.

PS. I have changed freebox skinsupport to "full" instead of "Any" wich was a error (Sorry Barcrest).

BoxEasy modification for TouchScreen.

Firstly apologies if I'm breaking any rules here. I freely own up that BoxEasy is my program but have been in communication with several forum members so please don't consider this spam!

BoxEasy is not everyone's cup of tea but enough forum members are using it, and have requested they can use it as a Touchscreen jukebox,  so this is just an update that there is now a kiosk modification that existing users can download for free from www.ziggyred.com (see the message board under "Support")

You need to already have the main version to set it up, as the kiosk version is purely designed for easy jukebox operation (e.g. TouchScreens from 800x600 up) and can't be used to add new albums etc (it simply uses the existing database from the main version).

The kiosk version is also now part of the main download for any new users who want to try it out.

Still early stages so any comments on are welcomed on the BoxEasy forum.

And thanks to everyone here for a great forum - Adam.

Now you can use buttons to controll freebox to a usable standard. You can pick an album and play a song off it just using buttons. You can also skip tracks, pause and controll the volume so it might be of some use to you guys that don't have touchscreens. Just thought i would give you the heads up.

Just wanted to give a heads up about an update to eJukebox. In one of the above posts it says eJukebox requires winamp but as of 4.5 that is no longer the case. eJukebox will now work without winamp plus it comes with a new touchscreen friendly skin called 'EJ'.

Will have to try out.

If it works well, it would be worth the $45  :applaud:

So far it's got one of the more intuitive and logical touchscreen interfaces I've seen, but the "reflection" effect is a bit overdone, and there are some weird random crashes I'm getting on both of my test machines.
I'm a little leary spending that amount of $$ for version 1.anything...

Hi,

Anyone wanting to try out a beta of Home JukeBox can download it from http://www.ziggyred.com/homejukebox/ .

Developed from BoxEasy it's free whilst in Beta.  Has many features including a CD ripper and a basic tag editor (unlike BoxEasy it arranges music according to tag info).

Any comments welcomed.

Cheers - Adam.

I think I now have installed and tried every jukebox software possible for my touch screen setup. And after finding many cool ones and not so cool ones I was still not impressed. When I was about to give up I found this site www.zenpoint.com and downloaded the demo. OMG!!!  Words cannot explain my thoughts about this software, simply clean and easy to use and I spoke with them and they said dual monitor support is coming soon and probably on the next update. I recommend everyone to give this a try, it plays movies, music, picture slideshow and even a clock which was pretty neat. Hope this helps anyone looking for something that is extrememly modern and fancy.

I have nothing to do with Zenpoint software. I just like it compared to all the other toush screen softwares out there. To many of them look unprofessional to me. Album Player is another good one in my opinion. But still zenpoint has more features. I figured out today that you can add other applications to it, pretty much like adding shortcuts to load other programs. Might be useful, dont know yet.

One more thing, if i was advertising my business on here it would be for vinyl graphics, because thats what I do.

:edit..   Vrockola is pretty sweet too! Thanks JukeJunkie! Going to give that software a try today. Especially nice that its free, I still havent purchased zenpoint because i was waiting for dual monitor support.

I'm trying out the ZenPoint DigitalCenter package.  It's pretty nice.  It would be great for a standard monitor aspect ratio.  When you stretch it to fill the widescreen monitor that is my MSI touchscreen all-in-one unit, it stretches the album covers.  But it's fast and nicely animated.  I'm not a fan of internet radio, but they implemented that nicely in the program package, too.

check out my post
my rowe cd100 jukebox project
and look what i did to it
and if you want real jukebox software, check out Vrockola
real jukebox software you can download for free
and works well with a keypad

VRockola 2006 is free for 999 songs or videos. Provides complete capabilities and unlimited evaluation time. More than 999 Songs and it's $49 or $99 for the pro, i am only saying this as the impression was given it is free ::)

That Zenpoint software has a great interface though, i really like how they have implimented it.

I'm noticing a lot of this software hasn't been updated in a long time or development has stopped. Would love input on what Jukebox software works best with standard 4:3 MAME cabinets using Windows 7 64 bit or similar setups.

Would love to go with a program that not only has the coolest features but has a motivated developer. Cost is irrelevant although free is always better.  :)

you should look for the wiki, linked as the first post. Yes some is not updated long time, but that not to been meant, they cant to been used (many example still use Sk-Jukebox), if it works as you have excepted it.
Currectly in work: Greedy Mouse || Previous Work: MultiFE Frontend, ArcadeMusicBox Jukebox || Music for various games (Tardis.dk + Greatflash.co.uk).

Perhaps if enthusiasts begin posting here more frequently again we can resurrect the movement. I am currently trying to find a good solution that works in Windows 7 64 bit and with network drives. I really like Jukebox Arcade but can't get it to work with my network drive and that's where all my music is. Windows Media pulls all the files down from the network drive just fine so my settings are correct.

I think if we can get the title of the thread changed from Last updated April 2007 and do a little cleanup we would get more visitors in this thread. I would bet more than half of the software is no longer in development and the sites are no longer even up so the list would probably shrink considerably. Does anyone know if the user who created the topic still checking it regularly as he is probably the one who would have to edit it correct?

An arcade cabinet is such a logical use as a jukebox when not gaming, let's get pumped about music and jukebox software again.

ZenPoint 4... I must have found this at the right time... this software is amazing and once I build my touchscreen Jukebox I will fully put it to the test.  So far imo it DESTROYS anything out there from a simple yet elegant interface that anyone can step up and use..  also offers TONS of advanced features for the admin.. it does however lack a album cover feature which they might implement in the future.. for now I'm using album art downloader which is very small but extremely powerful.. I also like the fact they are continually updating and improving their software, unlike the majority of juke softwares out there..

I was also impressed with The Jukeboxer.. this is probably the best solution for extremely simple interface.. i like the 3 different windows however if you want to quickly search by use of buttons instead of typing it's not there yet.  It does however break down the list by letter then double letter.. example click A, then it will list artists by AA AB etc..IF it exists.. that's a nice touch..

I have spoken with Saint and he has given me his blessing to go through the list and update it. I will do this as time allows so please don't come down on me too hard if it takes a week or so. For any of you newcomers who are not on the list please PM me the name of your jukebox program (don't leave it here) and your website's link.

Thanks!

I have recently changed my jukebox program from SK's to Jukebox Arcade found here - http://www.extrastrength.com/jbarcade.php

The reason for the change was that the former didn't work well with my touchscreen. I didn't mind paying for the program that I wanted, but even so, I could only find two that I was interested in - Jukebox Arcade and E-Touch. E-Touch however has too many features that I did not want to use (from what I remember, these were all internet features), and as I couldn't find a way to remove these, I decided I would not like looking at all the unused features available on the screen. So I didn't purchase a copy of it and went for the other option. I may of picked Jukebox Arcade regardless in the end though.

I made it perfect by downloading a skin provided here http://forums.hackaday.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=61&start=10. This skin removed a couple of unwanted buttons ("setting" and "about"), plus a few logos, as well as increasing the size of each CD image by a very attractive amount.

I think Jukebox Arcade is brilliant, it is even free!

Tried working with JRiver Media Center 16 in Theater mode on an ELO Touchscreen.
Sucks. Doesn't suck. Actually, not bad.

EDIT: Once I found a proper "Touchscreen" skin (I used the "Obsidian Touchscreen" skin that's included with the program), it works quite nice.

This particular skin is designed to look good in a traditional home theater environment, so it's got a very streamlined, polished look to it.

Here's a sample shot

One more edit: MC16 isn't free. Not a bad price, but not free.
Anyway, I've always like MC for it's tagging, organization and conversion functions. The new version is even more Client/server than the old (you can setup one machine as "server" that streams content to any number of clients).

My Tivo can even be a client.

i have two to add

skg jukebox , not to be confused with skjukebox , its a completely different program but is based on skjuke with a lot of good features, programmer skeptikal geek is good to deal with ,  a pretty good free juke , had a few problems with some songs not playing or playing without sound , not sure if it was collection or a bug , one of the main things here is that this jukebox is free and open sourced , i just wish i could program and id have a play with it.

http://www.skgsoft.net/

ive actually now gone to touchjams now , it is 50 bucks but a really good jukebox and im working with bob now to improve that one, ive just skinned a four album view if anyone wants it just let me know and ill email it to you , it is a combination of a couple of his skins but i re done the buttons so when they are on the look like they are lit up , looks pretty cool i think , i like the 60s 70s 80s etc filter buttons down the bottom , you can see i have the 2000's on
its skinable and best thing is ive finally got jukebox software that supports wifi remote control from any device that can access wifi  , i phone , i touch , lap top  , i pad , blackberry , phones etc , it is pretty good to sit out the back and pick songs on my phone  , just ordered a android 2.2 7 inch with all the accesories for 130 bucks , great value remote feature , finally found software that suits my needs and i think ive tried most of em

search feature is very good , you can see AD searched in the screenshot which includes bAD company , add another letter and it just keeps filtering like a good search engine

+1 !!!  :applaud:

Installed it last year after playing around with some other jukeboxes. Had some things I didn't like. So I asked the author and he said that almost everything I wanted (or not) could be done within the theme-file (XML) After some time looking into it and playing around I could change it the way I needed it. You can edit, add or remove everything on the screen and the options inside the software are very powerful, too. Of course it can be controlled with a touchscreen (works great!!) but can also be controlled by keys (can be changed). It supports windows screensaver. They can be adjusted in the options. It displays covers, they have to be inside the directory with the songs, named folder.jpg

Of course, no light without shadow:

* there is no search function. All you can do is set the first letter and it displays only the artists beginning with that letter
* getting your music sorted can be very annoying. What does it do? It looks into the MP3-tags and sorts them by artists and album names. If you have (like me) let's say 5 Foreigner songs in one directory then you have to edit the tags to ONE unique album name (I use '-' instead of a name). Otherwise you might end with five different covers, if your 5 songs are from 5 different albums.

It took a while to work everything out but now it's simply great. While "shadow nr.2" is not a problem any more, the poor search function is a real pain   :-\

BUT if you can live with that...it's IMHO the best Jukebox software around :)

One note about album art, any good MP3 tagger will find (or at least ease the process of finding) album art online, but the key is that they should +insert the album art into the tags of the MP3+.

That way, once you've properly tagged all your mp3's, you just have to back them up, not the jukebox software db, whatever it might use. That's because the MP3 set (and each mp3's cooresponding tags should contain pretty much everything necessary (including art) to rebuild the juke DB, no matter what juke app you use.

Has anybody found any software that looks close to the Touchtunes Virtuo.  It's a very clean UI.

If I can't find anything, I may attempt to create it, but I'd rather not.

Here is a video of what the UI looks like. Very Clean.

I've downloaded SKG jukebox to replace the SK jukebox software I've been using.  The lack of a click a button turn random on / off is the only thing stopping me from using it.  SKG works very well with my ELO touchscreen.

Ive downloaded several of the suggestions here.
Barry I like your juke software, but I didn't get to try it very long until my motherboard locked up. (This is not a problem with your software. It is in the motherboard im using for my juke build. New motherboard on the way.)
I haven't read the forum yet, but a quick question: how hard is it to design a skin?

Ive downloaded several of the suggestions here.
Barry I like your juke software, but I didn't get to try it very long until my motherboard locked up. (This is not a problem with your software. It is in the motherboard im using for my juke build. New motherboard on the way.)
I haven't read the forum yet, but a quick question: how hard is it to design a skin?

Most of the links on here are broken.

Sorry only just seen this. There is an app included (Skintool) that makes most of the work drag and drop.

Found this just the other day if your interested:

http://www.zenpoint.org/

I am using the trial for this and so far this is the one I am probably going to use. Works great on my WinXP and Win8 pc's. I want to give eTouch a try, but I can't download any demos at the moment as my AV is detecting a virus on downloads from the demo release forum url. Waiting for a response on their forum.

Whatever software I choose, it will be used with WinXP.

As far as only having some nice eye candy, it is so far the only one that has not crashed (due to bad filenames or tags) while loading my music library. Library loads fine and I can see which albums have issues without waiting for a crash. Looks good and works for me.

pretty much tried them all , touchjams to me is still the best and some nice updates been added

i love being able too look at top 100 hits that are played with touchjams software not top hits current , they show for australia , europe and america but the cool thing is it shows a green light next too the title if you have it in your library and a red one if you dont , really good for two reasons , you can play a song from that screen with a green light and if it has a red light it shows you music you might want

thumbs up for this program a lot of work has gone into it

They Look primitive but might be of interest to some of you. I have been looking around to see if there are any new products out there but not really found anything.

So much software, so little time.  I have two jukeboxes in storage and have been wanting to convert them to touchscreen since about 2005, but been so busy with arcades.  Back in 2005-2006 or so, there were only 2 or 3 options as of software on the forums and I'm happy to see there are dozens now.  Cool stuff.

I've been out of the jukebox software loop for quite some time now so forgive me if similar has been discussed.

I had a friend asking about building a jukebox for entertaining at his house...no problem...but he posed the question if it would be possible for guests to bluetooth into it with their phones and such.
For instance the jukebox would be running, selections made as usual via touchscreen and whatnot, but say someone had a particular song they wanted to share from their phone....would it be possible to incorporate syncing with outside sources like that?

Streaming the music to the pc is not so much the question, but more about having the jukebox software recognize and be interrupted while someone is streaming a song to the pc and then revert back to jukebox mode. (or something along those lines)

Of all the jukebox software discussions from before I simply don't recall any scenario like this, any insight would be appreciated.
I'm only posting this here because I see that there hasn't been very much activity on this list for some time now.

Could you elaborate a little more on that?

I see features listed on the website like "IPad,IPhone and Ipod controller" or "Blackberry and Android controller", but this all seems to relate to Remote Controlling the jukebox software, which is not what I'm really wanting.

I have not tried it yet, but I've read through the manual and it's not helpful in my "streaming" question.

The program is good but the documentation is poor. Not sure I know what you are wanting. Tried lots of progs last month and it was a case of compromise and personal choice. For the money it was the best

Think about something like one of those bluetooth speakers, various people (guests) could pair their phones to it and then just start streaming music to it. They're used to doing this all the time, some friend comes over and says "hey, check this song out" and just sends it to the speaker.
But now he's wanting to build a fullsize jukebox type setup to consolidate all his music and whatnot to make it easily accessible for all, just like any other typical jukebox setup most of us build, but he was curious if a function like the bluetooth streaming could be added to it. (instead of using the separate speaker thingy)
It don't think it's too terribly hard to accomplish streaming to a pc via bluetooth (ie. the jukebox computer) in a similar manner.
The problem I foresee is trying to do this in conjunction with some kind regular jukebox software running at the same time. As of right now I basically see two programs trying to run at the same time. We wouldn't want to have someone streaming a song from their phone AND have someone pick a song from the jukebox and suddenly the two are trying to play simultaneously.
So the jukebox software would need to recognize the phone streaming as part of the playlist per say, or add that song to the playlist so that one ended before the other began and vice versa.

If that makes any more sense.

I lost my music library yrs ago when my hard drive that held all my music cropped the bed.  I've been using Spotify for all my music and it has a great list of music.  I was wondering if there was a way to integrate it into a jukebox program.
