He already has the florescent light going to why not just diffuse the light with something behind the marquee like bit of translucent plastic panel or even white paper. The spot can also be reduced by covering the sides and back of the marquee light area with crinkled tinfoil that will help scatter the light. I use metal aluminum tape on the inside of the marquee area. It is real tape for ducts not the plastic duct tape that people buy that does not stick and does almost no good. |

you need to diffuse it, perhaps take a sander to a piece of plexiglass and place it between the light and the graphic? |
