The NewEgg links says it requires a 300W power supply which I know my Modder didn't come with. I think the power requirements are usually very conservative but just be aware.

I should be fine.
I just checked & the old 9400 GT I have installed now is a 50W part and it boots up just fine.
The 730 is a 25W part.

I'll run some actual games though on the 9400 first to make sure.
If it handles them without a crash i'll grab the 730.

Got my "Basic" the other day. Great comp, looks good, behaves well. Wife is very happy as it was a general use replacement for her aging desktop. A happy wife is TOTALLY worth the money.

Major Update:

Finally had the chance to post again. On top of everything else, was out sick for a bit and then had to travel for work. Actually starting a new position in my 9-5 that’s effecting the thread here (hence the post). It will require my main focus, and will be taking my attention from any side work/ contracts/ e-waste recycling help.

- What will this mean for equipment you were selling?

. I don’t foresee myself in the new gig continuing any side work that allowed me bringing these to the BYOAC community. So what I have now will be the last of any stock available.

- What’s left?!?!?

So I still have desktops (more basics then modders), and portable units. No more LCDs, what 19” LCDs I have left is reserved for Rick (PM incoming Rick).

Since I won’t have a need to hold stock of extra memory beside my own needs, I’m making changes in specs. Hence, I’m also updating pricing due to the new specs / stock availability / increased costs on my end. Still trying to offer these as cheaply as possible for the forum while keeping it fair for my time involved in getting these out.

Basic/Modder: all remaining desktops I sell will be upgraded to 8GB installed. Only option for upgrades I’m making available will be for the Modder to 16GB total (while supplies last).
Basic 8GB - $110 shipping included.
Modder 8GB - $150 shipping included. Upgrade to 16GB adds $30.

Portable: all units will have 4GB standard instead of the previous 2GB. Upgrade to 8GB is available until my spare memory stock runs out.
Portable 4GB – still $150 shipping included. Upgrade to 8GB adds $30.

So not that bad when doing the math, about +10% on some items or less when comparing like for like memory sizes from before. I’ll hold these prices for as long as I can, hopefully until these sell out.

All previous mentioned accessories will still be packed in until stock runs out or packaging needs are adjusted. I’ll make any adjustments to pricing again at that time if needed. As always, any PM orders will be grandfathered in before any changes are made public (last couple PCs actually shipped with 8GB despite lower spec ordered already

).

So TLDR: New job, not refurbing equipment anymore, get them while I have em!

ROFL, then the prices on my remaining stock would go WAY up, as I would be out a job!

Nah, really trying to get a better home/work life balance thing going, so cutting out my side work that allowed me bringing in these refurbs. New gig will be partially work from home eventually, so that will help too.

Answered him a while back via PM, but for FYI - all desktops use mATX style boards, but ONLY the Modder is easily transferred to another ATX standard case, if that is your intention.

Man when it rains....

So due to a unforeseen medical bill for the wife, I'm looking to offload some portables so our home budget doesn't get pimp-smaked.

For the rest of July (we'll see if I continue this after depending on response) I'm lowering portables to $100 shipped.

That's a business grade i5 laptop with 4GB ram and windows 7 professional pre-loaded and activated.

Some here already bought some and can attest to the experience. I know it's not as popular as the desktops for any builds, but most out there should know someone that could use a cheap good laptop.

As always, greatly appreciate the support and will continue to offer any deals while I have the stock.

No, the portable only takes a max of 8GB. Not a limitation of what parts I have left, but a limitation of the laptop itself.

The Modders are the best desktops I have left. That one with the 3000 series chip was a fluke mistake on my end that was an unintended 'free upgrade'.

YOu need a minimum of 5 posts before you can use the PM system (this is to stop BOTS from creating a new account and spamming everyone with PMs !) - so just make 4 more posts on the forum ( make a few comments in the build threads etc.) and you can then send him a PM.

As of today I no longer have any higher capacity So-Dimms for the portables. In plain English that means the only option for portables is 4GB, not 8GB. Will update the main post to reflect this. They are still, however, $100 including shipping.

The AVGA should fit in the modder case if you drop the second dsub connection, maybe ask if they have a low profile bracket. I didnt see power requirements for the card but since it doesnt have external power connections on it you should be ok.

If youre moving the guts of a modder into another case you should be fine, but if youre doing that you should upgrade the power supply anyway.

I just received my new SSD drive 256 GB. If I want to install do I need to just get a SATA 3 cable and a Power cable to go to the power supply? Is there room on the power supply for three drives? Thanks

Why do I feel like the FAQ guy for these?

There are 4 SATA ports, 2 are 6.0 Gb 1 is 3.0Gb and the last one is an eSATA port. The power supply that comes with the PC only has 2 sata power connectors, the ATX connector, and the 4 pin mobo connector. The Power supply that comes with it is also an 85% 285W PS.

they have SATA power splitters but there isnt much room in the case. If you dont plan to run the regular HD and the SSD, just disconnect the DVD drive and clone the HD to SSD then replace the HD with the SSD. Or you can be like me and just remove the DVD drive to plug in the second hard drive/SSD
