Which Demul are you using?  5.8 struggles on my modder but 5.7 seems to work well.

You need a low profile card.

I bought the 1gb GT 730 because i like nvidia. But there is a better AMD card that will work  AMD R7 250 low profile. Its more expensive though.

I put a Zotac Geforce GT 610 2GB Synergy Edition in mine:

http://www.zotac.com/en/products/graphics-cards/geforce-600-series/gt-610/product/gt-610/detail/geforce-gt-610-synergy-edition-2gb.html

It's low profile but I had to put a 400w power supply in that fit right into the case.

So I bought this video card for the modder system and can't get it to work: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150713. I went into the bios and changed the video to auto which is supposed to boot video from pci-e first. Then I put the video card in. But when I put the video card in and turn on the computer, I get no video even before windows boots (i.e. bios startup) and the keyboard and mouse don't seem to be detected. I take the video card out and everything boots fine with the video connected to the onboard again. Any ideas why it is doing this and is there a solution that anyone knows about? I have tried it with the bios set to both auto and pge (which is the pci-e setting) and get the same results.

Are you using the power supply it came with?  The Newegg page says it requires 400w minimum.

No. I bought a 500 watt power supply. This one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00H33SFJU/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I should note, all fans come on when I boot with the video card in it including the fan on the video card itself. There are no system error beeps. I also tried updating the system bios to see if that helped. Still no video or peripherals working when video card is connected.

Edit: So I tested the video card in another machine and it was doing the same thing. I guess it's bad since it didn't work in two machines. I'll try to exchange at new egg.

Update, finally got a replacement card and it's doing the same exact thing. First card was from New Egg. I sent it back for a refund and bought it on Amazon, so it's not like a bad batch or anything. Any idea why I would be having this problem? Is there a driver I need to install to use the pcie port or something?

I tested in my main machine, which is a different machine than the other machine I tested in on the last card, and I got a picture, so the card works. Next, I disconnected my large power supply from my main computer and hooked it up to the machine I'm trying to use the card in and got the same results as before, so it's not a power supply issue. I made sure the video in the bios was set to pce which is what it said pci-e should be. So, I guess I've narrowed it down to the board not functioning correctly or the card is incompatible. Which would seem odd because the card was recommended by others in this thread. Don't think the board is malfunctioning because that first card didn't work in that other machine either. Any suggestions? Why would the card be incompatible if that is the case? It's pci-e 3.0, but I've read that cards are backwards compatible with older pci-e slots, so that shouldn't be an issue.

Are you positive the AMD card works? I'd like to get confirmation from someone that it's compatible. Otherwise I'll try to return it and buy a different one.

Edit: Decided I'm going with a different one. Can't get it to work for anything. Anyone looking, I'd recommend avoiding the R7-250A-CLF4 for this computer. I went with this one that an user above is using: http://www.zotac.com/en/products/graphics-cards/geforce-600-series/gt-610/product/gt-610/detail/geforce-gt-610-synergy-edition-2gb.html. Should be in Sunday. Hope it works.

New card came in today. I put it in the computer and it fired right up. So, I'd say definitely avoid the R7-250A-CLF4 for this computer. It must not be compatible with the computer.

You'll need a low profile card for the case it comes in.

I've been playing Fore for the past few weeks on the modder (first time I compiled my own MAME because I couldn't wait for this game!).  As we've discovered, my modder is actually slightly faster than everyone elses but I think they'll all play it just fine.  One important note: the game will struggle pretty often on the default settings.  Change the dipswitch to low resolution and it should run near 100% at all times.  You'll get an occasional audio hiccup here and there especially if you end up in the woods, but it's very playable.

In MAME 0.162 which was released yesterday. It might become the new Gauntlet Legends in terms of measuring your system.

If you're looking to get all the courses, just get the first game and Golden Tee Fore Complete.  Complete has everything except two 9 hole courses from the first game (Royal Bannockburn and Rolling Acres).  Those are the only 2 games I test on the Modder but I assume they all work fine.

Another tip, make sure you press T to go into test mode after it boots up to adjust the sound.  It defaults at basically 0. I also cleared out all the records and leaderboards since some of the computer scores are almost impossible to beat.

You have to link all 10 together to form a supercomputer, and even at that it only runs as 98.7%.

Has anyone tried out any games on the "modder" system with the Dolphin emulator or steam? I would assume I'd need one of the gfx cards that was mentioned previously, but I just thought I'd check.

Thanks to those who have already listed out tested games in the thread. It's been super helpful!

I've tried a few but the performance really depends on the game.  Mario Galaxy runs.....OK but can be sluggish at times. Not really good enough for me to play through. I'll have to stick with the SD version on Wii for now.  Mid-range games run pretty well for the most part. The Wiiware Target Toss Pro games worked perfectly for me on 1080P.

I think i'm going to end up using my modder for Steam on the TV for the kids.
Mostly castle crashers & Lego games.

From what I've read the Nvidia GTX 720 should work with the stock PSU no problem.
it's a 720p TV so I think it should be good enough to run the games smoothly and look at least as good as the kids Wii.
anyone know of a better card that works with stock psu?

The R7 250 is faster and it should work with the stock PSU.

I purposefully didn't mention that card because Santo a few posts back tried two of them and couldn't get the PC to boot.
Someone is using a GTX 730 but I need to get the GDDR version otherwise the 720 appears to be faster.
730 gddr is about $80 while 720 is $60.
not sure i'll get that much of a performance increase since performance is the wrong term to use when referencing these low power cards. :)

I would get the GDDR5 GT 730, its only $65 on newegg.

good find! And good price Thanks.
these cards are damn annoying because it appears there are two different gpu's in the 730's.
