Well just wanted to update. I got HLSL working full speed now. I thought it was lagging in Street fighter 2 CE when i threw a Hadouken with RYU, but after looking up videos thats just how the game is. I never remember it being that laggy. It also says 100% speed and 0/10 frameskip for every game i tossed at it.

I got an PNY GT 730 1Gb because i hate AMD cards. It was 55, 65 before rebates.

It's not as powerful as the R7 250, but is on par or better than the R7 240.

Just wanted to update for anyone interested in just upping the GPU for HLSL or other light graphics needs and don't want to spend 80+ on a card.

MODDER PC running Hyperspin and Mame with HLSL enabled.

Runs fantastic. Get one of these PC's if you can. HLSL looks so nice.

How does it run Sega Naomi games?  Those seem to be the hardest for my current crappy GPU Hyperspin setup.

Is there a better power supply that can be put directly into the modder system without a new case?

I threw in my old video card which seems to work fine but I didn't even realize that it requires 300w.  I have a newer card that also requires 300w but I'm not sure if it's worth trying on the 240w supply. I have a power supply that will fit in the case, but the main connection for the motherboard is larger than what's on the modder board.

the modder motherboard takes a standard ATX connection and the 4 pin extra connection.

The modder I got takes a 14 pin connection. My motherboard takes the connector on the right:

I see they make a 24 pin to 14 pin adapter.  I might have to get one of those.

All FIVE modder machines I got are all exactly the same, with a standard ATX power connector.

You sure you got the modder model? Attached is an actual pic from one of my machines.

I'll take a picture later but yes, it is a modder machine. I'm pretty sure it is different though because the chip is not a 2500.  It's  something more like a 3500.

I'm not complaining   ;D . I will just go ahead and order the adapter so I can use my newer card and beefier power supply.

Has anyone found a manual or pinout spec for the modder motherboard? Motherboard is is6xm. I got a new case to put it in and I'm having a hard time figuring out where to plug everything in on the front panel of the case (i.e. power, power led, reset, usb, audio, etc).

I found this and was able to get most of the pins placed as for some of the non essential stuff like board front audio I left it unhooked

Finally getting around to testing these guys (I bought 4 Modders) and I'm definitely happy with them for MAME purposes.  All i5-2500 cpus, but I also noticed they're all 8GB of RAM, which I appreciate, but didn't pay for! Uh... thanks for the free upgrade, TKW?  ;D

I didn't know until this morning, when I started tinkering, that the base i5-2500 only has "HD 2000" graphics on-board (the 2500K that I've been running for years has HD 3000).  I was having trouble running blitz, ttt, gauntleg, etc. at 100%, with HLSL, at the native 1280x1024 resolution of my Dell 1908fp monitor...

Fortunately, the quick and easy solution was to run at lower desktop resolution (1024x768) At that point the i5-2500 is definitely able to keep up 100% speed, with the tougher single-monitor games with HLSL running, and the games look fantastic. I imagine it'll still choke on multi-monitor games, but I haven't played with that yet.

In other news, we just put down a deposit on a new rental in Harrison, NJ! No more living in Manhattan! No more alleyway builds! I will have SPAAAAACE! Many projects already in the queue, if the 4 Modders didn't already give that away...

I found the pinouts here:

https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkCentre-A-E-M-S-Series/ThinkCentre-A60-front-panels-power-audio-and-USB-pinout/td-p/190651 Couldn't get the front USB to work as the connector for the case did not match up with the pinout for the motherboard. Not a huge deal as it will be in a cab anyhow.

Damm you are lucky. One guy gets a 3500 CPU and you get 4GB of extra ram, i am jealous! lol

I have been waiting for days after sending TKwarrior payment for an extra 4gb Ram stick for a response. Honestly not even sure it will do anything at this point. Just figured for how cheap it is, could be good to have. Hopefully he gets around to answering his emails and sends that bad boy out.

I only got an initial reply saying he had stock.  No confirmation of my payment and he didn't respond when I followed up.  It showed up with on April 24th, a week after I sent the payment with no issues.

Yeah, his communication isn't the absolute best, but I cut him some slack since he's definitely delivered for everyone who has ordered up to this point. The new baby thing probably accounts for a lot of that.

There are worse "retail" vendors out there (Divemaster, for example, is just really, really bad at communicating quickly, but that said, he has never, ever failed me) and TKW is doing this just for BYOAC, as I understood it.

I think, personally, I've been really spoiled by Newegg (and to a lesser extent, Amazon) delivery speed - huge companies with huge distribution chains - so I give our "local" guys the benefit of the doubt!  ;D

So I bought this video card for the modder system and can't get it to work: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150713. I went into the bios and changed the video to auto which is supposed to boot video from pci-e first. Then I put the video card in. But when I put the video card in and turn on the computer, I get no video even before windows boots (i.e. bios startup) and the keyboard and mouse don't seem to be detected. I take the video card out and everything boots fine with the video connected to the onboard again. Any ideas why it is doing this and is there a solution that anyone knows about? I have tried it with the bios set to both auto and pge (which is the pci-e setting) and get the same results.

Are you using the power supply it came with?  The Newegg page says it requires 400w minimum.

No. I bought a 500 watt power supply. This one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00H33SFJU/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I should note, all fans come on when I boot with the video card in it including the fan on the video card itself. There are no system error beeps. I also tried updating the system bios to see if that helped. Still no video or peripherals working when video card is connected.

Edit: So I tested the video card in another machine and it was doing the same thing. I guess it's bad since it didn't work in two machines. I'll try to exchange at new egg.

This.
but i'm glad i'm not the only one.
I somehow over paid him $20 \fail_math :) and when he told me and asked if I wanted a refund or more ram I asked how much to ship a monitor to me & I got no response.
Thought I insulted him or he thought I was trying to get a dirt cheap monitor or something.
I also said he could just refund me but still haven't gotten a response.
ill just wait.
It's only $20.

anyway I got to test Gauntlet legends on mine and very happy.
I also picked up low profile gforce 9400 and a component dongle for testing a 20" CRT TV I have with component out
looks damn good.
I plan to use this PC/video card on a 32" 4:3 CRT with component in that I have for a 4 player pedestal so I don't need the shader but can test it on this cheapo card if anyone is interested.
HLSL or GLSL with latest mame.

Probably unnecessary but just want to throw out there again that my communication, shipping, negotiations, etc. with TKW were solid.. not to mention very quick, too.  He did take an extra day or two to send me the tracking #s after he shipped them, but they were shipped on time, packed great, etc.  So I can only vouch for my own experience but no need to worry, I hear those damned young children are a lot of work.  I mean I can't imagine how, they're so tiny and can't even walk yet!

I can vouch as well with multiple orders that sometimes I didn't get tracking but shipping was always extremely fast once I got a quote and made a payment.

Dude, you got an unintended upgrade! Someone in my office must have changed some PCs around. You must have got an m92 by mistake instead of a m91. They look exactly the same from the outside.

Seeing how you found an adapter (good to know one exists when they go off-contract).... my apologies? :dunno I'm curious of the horsepower differences with the 3500 in mame.

And no, no more of those are for sale  :lol

I imagine it'll still choke on multi-monitor games, but I haven't played with that yet.

In other news, we just put down a deposit on a new rental in Harrison, NJ! No more living in Manhattan! No more alleyway builds! I will have SPAAAAACE! Many projects already in the queue, if the 4 Modders didn't already give that away...

All of the Modders are exactly the same with the exception of ram installed to my knowledge. Are you saying you had multiple of the same PC and one is showing a different on board video version? The video is from the CPU itself in the i5 series, so I'm confused. Lack of sleep aint helping  :lol. Keep me posted and I'll do what I can to help you out.

Nobody is MIA, just dead tired.
Yeah infants need attention, who knew?

In all seriousness, I normally stay off the forum because if I let my eyes wander, my productivity it shot for half the day. I've already seen a few projects mirror my own ideas from the past year or so, and I get depressed not being able to work on them for a while yet. Plus I get notifications when I get PMs and they are more secure.

I was inundated by questions via PM and was trying to reply when I could. The last week has been insane, so I have already replied to everyone I thought was pending correspondence this evening. If you didn't get a PM from me reach out so I can take care of you.

Just to re-iterate, I'm NOT a 'retail' seller here. This was a side way to help the community and help with the insanity costs of getting a new home and baby. My prices are low since it's more paying for my time than anything else, which unfortunately is in short supply as of late. I had to reduce to doing shipments once a week since getting these cleaned/ prepped/ shipped can just wear on me if I try to devote time to this every day.

I greatly appreciate everyone's patience. Thankfully I try not to arrange any payments until I have the equipment ready to ship. Just please keep in mind that until things calm down (at work and home) I'll be going on a once a week shipping plan and will do my best to stay on top of PMs going forward.

Crap...  Just looked at the actual specs on the machines you are selling and they're better than my home desktop which is only an i3.  I may need to buy a modder and use it as my desk machine.

Scary.

You must have got an m92 by mistake instead of a m91. They look exactly the same from the outside.

The box says M93p.

The box is just a box, lol. Saved them on new installs from my other job as they were perfect for packing/shipping these out.

Feel free to thank whoever switched it for me! I got the adapter last night and it works like a charm with my 400w supply and better video card. The extra ten bucks for the adapter was worth it for a better processor.  Not sure if there's much difference in MAME. Gauntlet Legends seems like it runs exactly as others have reported though I haven't tried with my newly installed video card (if that even makes a difference). I'm not sure what the other games are that people use to test the performance in MAME. The usual suspects like Cruis'n, Ridge Racer and San Francisco Rush work perfectly.

can I get an M92?
If you're replying to a troll you are part of the problem.
I also need to follow this advice. Ignore or report, don't reply.

I'm very interested in buying one of the PC's, but I need to know the actual model of the PCs and laptops.  I take it at least one of them is the Thinkcentre M91?

If the laptops are Lenovo Thinkpads or Dell Precisions I'd be interested in buying them as well as a desktop PC.

Mine was an M91 i believe.

Also just wanted to publicly thank TKwarrior. I ordered 4gb of ram from him for $15, and not only was the ram brand new, but he included an extra 4gb of ram for free because i am assuming he felt bad it took him a few days longer to ship.

Just wanted to say thank you, that was incredibly nice of you.

These computers are incredible for the money, you CANNOT beat the price for what you are getting, and you are dealing with an absolute class act and an awesome guy.
