HD 4350 not accepting modelines below 60 hz
« on: July 11, 2013, 03:22:35 am »
When i install the CRT Emudriver and launch VMMaker, it generates all the necessary modelines including modelines with refresh rates below 60 hz, for example 320x240 @ 57.55 hz for Dodonpachi.

Now the resolutions are all selectable, but the refresh rates of all of them is 60 hz, or around 60 hz. When launching Arcade OSD i have resolutions with rates around 59,9 but that's it.

Also, some modelines with very far off refresh rates are missing alltogether. So i have maybe 90 modelines from the 120 i should have.

I am on a fresh Windows XP SP3, used the 9.3 Emudriver. I choose "VGA" as my monitor as i have a 31 khz arcade monitor. I also choose a static modetable and ini generation because i wanted to try out the driver with Shmupmame.

Can anyone help me out with this? Maybe i'm missing something obvious.

I have just installed a Radeon X600 in my system, reinstalled windows as well as the Emudriver and the problem is still the same. Again Arcadeosd shows only modelines above 60hz. I am obviously missing some crucial step while installing this, and would be very happy for advice.

If VMMaker is actually creating modelines with the right refresh rates, then they should be available. Please attach your Modeline.txt file so I can have a look.

Steps to create a log:
 - From command line, run: groovymame.exe -v romname >romname.txt
 - Attach resulting romname.txt file to your post, instead of pasting it.

Attached is my modeline.txt

Below how my ArcadeOSD looks like:

So as you can see, 240x240@57 is already gone.

Are you testing this on a LCD?

If so, that's the cause of the mode pruning you're seeing. Either try this with just the arcade monitor plugged, or select "Attach OSD to current monitor" while having the window placed on the target monitor. First option is better as sometimes Windows just removes modes for all monitors when they're unsupported by just one of them.
