First off there are some Really talented cabinet builders here. I wish I had room for cabinets but I dont, one day. I would love a room full of them because I grew up in the golden age of arcades. So I have to make controller's. I was not sure where my post should fall, since it is complete now & falls under a couple of things. I already have a dual stick setup. I was missing a dedicated 4way joystick & was needing one bad. So I picked up an original Pacman joystick. ;D This felt wrong making a controller out of it, to me. One day it will go into a cab. It was so rusted & broke, I could not let it be forgotten or destroyed over time. To me this was the best 4way joystick ever made & designed ;D :applaud: So here it is how I got it. The grommet is busted & the joy is rusted. Starting the rehab. This is as much as I could get it cleaned. New centering grommet put on. The other plate cleaned up ;D Now I wanted to keep the joystick in metal, since it is a short shaft. The original leaf switches were shot on this. I had to get replacement size leaf switches for it. I also used the classx leaf switches from GGG , for the buttons. So here it is put together ;D I hand cut the pacman logo name out of a purple chrome vinyl. Made PacMan on the dust washer. Then I made a stencil type for the side ghost's. One side is red, the other side pink. It is hard to tell from the pic but the ghost's are metallic. I did it this way, so it would let the metal thru the color ;D Plus who does not like shiny things :o ;D ;D hehehehehe So that is what I came up with & built. Hope ya like it. Thanks for looking  |

A mere shadow of it's former terrible self. Nice work! |

I like it - the pac-grommet is particularly clever! |

Very nice work. I like to see something good made from something that would otherwise get thrown away. |

Yes, Bally/Midways design of this joystick is some very fine engineering!!! ;D They just do not make them like this anymore. --- Quote from: monkey puzzle on June 28, 2013, 07:11:54 pm ---Very nice work. I could not let a piece of gaming history just rot or be thrown away. I am sure there a lot of members here, that like me grew up in the pacman days ;D It was a small part but every piece counts  |
