A FOX executive was quoted as saying  "the most impactful show in the history of television." in regards to American Idol. That doesn't mean I agree with him or will watch it.

Chris if you are looking for good, and I mean GOOD!, American television I would have to recommend Dexter.  It's about a serial killer who kills of all things serial killers.  And I can't believe in this whole conversation no one would mention Monty Python's Flying Circus.  Blasphemy.     :)
