While the flopdoodle did come into commission in 1940 it wasn't actively part of the regular footman's kit until 1963 making it an anachronistic choice to have in this theme. As a side note the flopdoodle was produced by Milton Bradley during the run-up to war but was originally designed as a beauty aide.
If you'll see below I've carefully diagrammed a solution for how to incorporate the flopdoodle's original design with your CP using simple series of levers, pulleys, strings, some gum, and an unidentifiable orange squarish mass right in the middle of the picture. Should be clear as day.
