Trouble making Front End (AtomicFE) talk to Mame32
nakeworks:
:dunno:
I don't know why but I decided to upgrade some components in my arcade. I decided to give the Layout Editor a whirl to try a new theme and now that I am reloading my front end with Mame it won't play the games. If I open up Mame 32, I can play any game with no problems. When I launch AtomicFE, my list of roms/games comes up but each time I select a game an error screen comes up that says:
"Error: unknown option: and"
I have gone back through to make sure that it is trying to pull the files from the right folders and everything seems kosher. Any ideas other than switching Frontends? I like Atomic for my system and it is the only one that works with my monitor. I did not have this problem before.
Hoopz:
Why not just use command line Mame with AtomicFE instead of Mame32?
It will give you a chance to start over with Mame, you can set your paths again in Atomic and keep your FE the same?
If you stick with what you have, I would make sure your ROM path is correct.

Thanks for the advice. I rechecked the rom path and it is good. If I could avoid downloading Mame or any new programs that would be preferable. Last setup with AtomicFE I didn't have this problem. If no one can tell what I've done wrong then I may have to download Mame.

I know nothing about Atomic FE, but that sounds like there is something wrong with the command line it is posting.
....like it contains the word "and"?
Can you launch a game in MAME32 via command line or batch file?

I'm not familiar with your frontend, so not sure here. Just out of curiosity, does your rom path include the word "and" (e.g. Documents and Settings)? I've seen it happen in other programs before, sometimes they don't handle spaces in paths very well.
Try putting quotation marks around your path. Usually solves the problem when I encountered this in other programs.
