NFS:The Run $5, NFS:Ultimate Collection $7.49, +More
« on: May 16, 2013, 03:17:59 pm »
Amazon is having a big game sale.

Nothing real spectacular in racing games, but in case someone wants to round out their NFS collection:

Need For Speed: The Run $5 http://www.amazon.com/Electronic-Arts-40844ed-Run2-Speed/dp/B0060NQT9W/ref=sr_1_1_title_4?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1368728227&sr=1-1&keywords=need+for+speed+the+run
Origin DRM, reviews not the greatest..... I just got a $5 gift card and I'm on the fence.

Midnight Club 2 $5 http://www.amazon.com/Midnight-Club-Online-Game-Code/dp/B008FPV3VW/ref=sr_1_22?ie=UTF8&qid=1368727060&sr=8-22
"Purchase this product and receive a $5 credit towards other Rockstar Digital Downloads sold by Amazon Digital Video Games. Credit may be used on products priced greater than $5. Credit must be used by 5/28/2014"
Steam DRM. I already have the game on disc.  Considered getting it because it's basically free after receiving the credit, but I can't find any other rockstar games that I'd want to spend the credit on.  :-\

A lot of the cheaply produced Trucker and casual racing games are on sale for less than a few bucks,
but I don't know much about them or how well they work with steering wheels.

Ridge Racer Unbounded is $10 again, but as discussed in the last thread, it only supports xbox360 controllers.
An xbox360 controller emulator can be used if you want to use a wheel, but it's less than optimal and lacks real ffb.

EDIT: Just noticed Sonic All-Star Racing Transformed for $7.49 http://www.amazon.com/Sonic-All-Stars-Racing-Transformed-Download/dp/B00AWRPEJI/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1368732440&sr=1-1&keywords=steam+racing
Steam DRM.

There is an Outrun track DLC for it for $3 (full price) http://www.amazon.com/Sonic-All-Stars-Racing-Transformed-Outrun/dp/B00BHJ6KY8/ref=sr_1_5?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1368732440&sr=1-5&keywords=steam+racing

Not sure how well it works with a wheel since the cars transform into boats and planes.

Price back up to $15.  Glad I bought it yesterday.

If you're replying to a troll you are part of the problem.
I also need to follow this advice. Ignore or report, don't reply.

Man I really miss being able to buy pc games on a disc.  Every time I hear the words "DRM" I just give up.

I used to be the same way, but I've grown to like steam rather than having to mess with "co cd" cracks from shady sites.
I never did get Sega Rally Revo working on my cab without leaving a DVD drive attached with the DVD in it.

With steam, all my stuff is registered and can be redownloaded on a different computer in the future.
I don't have to keep track of product keys or discs.
.....although I do keep printouts of all my product keys because I'm paranoid like that.

Still leary of all other DRM.  I've wasted several days trying to get games working that used Games for Windows Live.
It's got to be something I want bad before I go near GFWL again.

NFS: The Run is the like the ultimate NFS sample pack.

I've played it about half way through I think (maybe less) and I'm enjoying it.  At $5 its a steal.  Just buy it and enjoy it.

Keep in mind that you need a fairly newer system to get the most out of it though.

+1 ^^

Same situation for me. I always liked the idea of owning a physical CD for my PC games but building a cab where the PC and DVD drive cannot be accessed easily, I was forced down the steam path. After using it for a while, I think it's great. Cheaper prices, no DVD required and steam automatically applies patches.

I wish now that steam still sold Toca race driver 3. Then I wouldn't be having trouble trying to install my legit physical copy and then have the starforce protection crash my windows 7 PC.
