So instead of buying another xbox and mod chip, I'm going the PC route. I can at least build computers and configure them fine :)

There are other front ends, if the E-350 doesn't run HyperSpin very well.  It doesn't sound like you're overly attached to the idea of HyperSpin.

Really? What else is there? I have all the emulators and roms downloaded.

I don't care about what frontend to be honest. I just want to play my mame and classic games with my friends :)

Lots.

For a hint -- go to the listing of 'Support of the forum for a few, such as:

* Mala
* WahCade / MameWAH
* Maximus Arcade
* AdvMENUPlus

These are the arcade machine oriented frontends.  Hyperspin's really popular, but unfortunately, it's written using Flash -- so requires far more oomph than the emulators that it generally runs!

can't be that difficult to fix that xbox. i mean, how bad does the board look?

I only discovered AdvMENUPlus because of Calamity and VeS' work with GroovyArcade.  It's primarily an Italian / Spanish project from the looks of it.  It's the default frontend for GroovyArcade. :)  I've been working on integrating Cabrio into GroovyArcade, which is HyperSpin-esque but without requiring Flash and works on Linux.

I think I bought too high of a soldering iron, or I just completely suck at it. Last time I soldered was in my high school electronics class. That was eight years ago.

Here's how bad I messed it up:

I don't have a picture of the xbox, but it looked the same. I threw it away out of frustration.
