Selecting Video Modes on Arcade Monitor
« on: April 06, 2002, 09:15:55 am »
???

I have beeen using Mame for a few years now on a PC but have just converted my Jamma cabinet into a Mame machine with a JPAC, ArcadeOS and Dos Mame and have a few issues with the arcade monitor resolutions.

The monitor is vertically oriented at the moment as I play Galaxians etc. mostly. These work great under Mame in DOS - No problems.

1. My first problem is with Vector games - anybody know of any decent video modes to use with mame to run Starwars and Asteroids on a standard 15KHz arcade monitor ? Or is it just poor compared to on a PC.

2. For Gauntlet and other games that are horizontal, what are the best settings for video that people have used (particularly when the monitor is left vertical as I am too lazy to keep rotating it) The default mode is a bit small.

Any help or recommendations or website addresses much appreciated.

Regards,
Ian
