Operation - Caution, gross image inside

(1/11) > >>

Xiaou2:
A little over a week ago, I started getting horrible gut pains.  Then added nausea, followed by constant puking.

Had to go to the ER.

They believed it was a small bowel obstruction, caused from scar tissue from previous operation (gall bladder removed + belly button hernia)   They tried to get it to go away without surgery. Drove a tube down my nose, into my
stomach.  Sucked out acids and bile (disgusting & nauseating)  , waited and waited.   Nothing to eat for days.   Stuck in a room with a guy who snored like a polar bear.  Couldnt sleep at all.

Tried to get them to do an enema.  Nobody wanted to do it. After much argument, finally get one... but its a tiny single use bottle.  Its
not enough.  They also tried suppositories... but none of them worked.    After a few days, they finally got me a large bottle enema...
and I was able to pass a lot of material.  However, they didnt let me refill it, to get more out.  I felt better... got the tube out... but
the condition returned again.

They almost poisoned me (allergies) with the Aspartame (artificial sweeteners) loaded fluid they needed me to drink for an MRI.
Luckily I asked what was in it before drinking it.  After some confusion & difficulty, They finally remixed the fluid with apple juice.

Sent me to the O.R. to get cut up.
Woke with tube in nose, again.  Sore.  Staples in ab area.  Lapriscopy failed.

Half of staples pulled out, as there was an infection starting.  Giant hole exposing innards.  Dressing must be changed 2x daily.

Suction tube really annoying and painful.  One day, heard two distinct clunking sounds from the basin... Realized it was a cracked tooth
part, and the associated mercury filling, that Id swallowed long ago. (in my sleep i believe)

At one point, on a sunny day, I noticed the tube in my stomach was leaking, creating a fine mist near the nose area.  Effectively, I
was breathing in waste, into my lungs!   I put a drink cup to my hose, allowing the mist to collect and form two dripping vertical
lines as proof.

The witch nurse, called me crazy, and kept giving me a hard time, as I turned the suction machine off, refusing it until the issue was
solved.  She refused to feel the hose without gloves, nor would listen to it.  Ignored the proof on the cup.  I think this witch actually
sabotaged the hose by poking it with a fine needle, when I was sleeping.  At last, I compromised, by having her place tape on
the hose.  F/N Wench.

Spent about 5 more days recovering.  Luckily, moved into a better quieter room, able to sleep now.

They tried to get me to agree to this special IV nutrient mix,  that goes into the main veins / arteries.  I asked to look at the specs
of whats in it.  First paragraph, it lists its comprised of over 35% soy!  Of which Im allergic to in small doses!   God, are they
trying to kill me?!    Finally, they found a non-soy version.  But I still refused the special injection point, after the first woman couldnt
easily find a vein good enough to use.

About 7th day, finally able to drink broth / clears...  However, the hospital has no broths that conform to my allergies!   Really?!

Had to get friends to pickup stuff I could eat.   The nurse even accidentally brought me a sugar free jello.  Luckily, I noticed it.
I cant seem to trust anyone about ingredients...  ugg.

Next was solids.  Hospital has almost nothing that I can eat.  And then, they even manage to mess up and serve me things I said I shouldnt eat...  Then wonder why my bowels are still inflamed / bloated.

After like 9 days in the hospital,  6 without food...  I finally got out of that prison cell.

Still have this massive hole to deal with though...
Larger diameter than a golf ball.  Heh, Its just about trackball sized.

Edit:  I do have to say, only about three of the nurses were bad apples.   Everyone else was very kind and helpful.

Well, I don't know what else I was expecting when I saw the thread title.
Get well soon. :puke

Xiaou2:
Thanks Dave.

Freaks me out every time I have to Change the dressing.  Still, I feel a bit better doing it myself.  The nurses often rip the old bandage out too quickly...  as well as pressing the new bandage in with too much pressure.

05SRT4:
I'm glad your doing alright. Sucks to hear you had a bad experience with the nurses. My dad the same problem with the nurses doing the wrapping on his foot after surgery. They would just rip it off and at one point actually ripped some stitching out with it. I hope your recovery goes smoother.

Xiaou2:
If you have ever wondered what that bin is on the wall of your Doctors office...  Its the Evil Suka device.  I wish I never had to know first hand.

The hose in the bin pic was what they started me out on.  I think it was 1/2 " diameter.  Very painful to get in.

Later, in the nose pic,  they had me on a smaller 1/4" tube.

You can see the amount of stuff they stuffed the hole with.   About 1/2 a roll of gauze.  A small pad, and one mega pad... with a ton of tape.
