You may recall that I picked up a racing cab about a month ago. We've been having fun with it, but I wanted to customize it a bit. I'm not ready to convert it just yet, so I wanted to have fun and make it mine.
When I was going though the inside of the cab, I noticed that the power supply had an extra harness on it. Nothing was attached to it, but I tested it and it was live. I picked up a neon motorcycle licence plate frame a while back, and I wanted to find a use for it. I had read someone one here where someone had picked one up and powered it with a computer power supply. I was going to use it as game room decor, but I realized I could use it on my racer. I also order a set of purple cold cathode tubes on ebay for super cheap. I measured and made a custom harness to go from the power supply (9-pin) to the two 12v acessories: (4-pin)
I connected the harness to the power supply and ran it though an existing hole on the bottom of the cab.
I ran the wire under the machine and to the components, which I attached with velcro. I turned on the cab, and everything lit up:
I used strong Velcro to attach the license plate frame to the back of the machine. That way, nothing was physically altered on the cab.
Moved her in to place, turned out the lights, and there she is...
