That's pretty cool, I was waiting for you to say that he makes 60-in-1 bar-tops and sells them all day long on CL so could you send us your templates so I can rape your ideas for profit. Catastrophe avoided.

Looks like a cool place. I do have a basic template cutout you can use although I don't guarantee it's super accurate. Hit me up on PM.

And that's why I nominated it for the user choice awards here: http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,136720.0.html

But it still needs a "second" nomination to get into the vote!

Do you sell or have the plans and/or artwork posted for this cabinet somewhere? I love this design and would love to attempt a build.

Hi,

Nice project.
Is there a way to get the artwork on a high quality image?
I would like to build one of those myself.
The barrel and all the needed parts are allready owned.
Only thing i am missing is a good quality artwork.
I am not a great artist to create such designs, so i would much appreciate if a could get the artwork also.

Thanks in advance,
Regards,
Roverius

Hey Griff.

Finally got myself a barrel so I was going to attempt a build of this. After reading this post (most all of it) I didn't see anywhere about how you keep the glass top secure. Was it just help down by it's own weight?

Thanks.

From the looks of this pic :

He place 6 felt pads around the edges to give some support (could also use some Velcro placed on the barrel and glass in the same method if it needed extra hold) but with the weight of the top and the felt to keep it from easily sliding it probably is enough unless you have kids\pets around it !

From the look of that pic he used the best thing you can use to hold the glass down: Booze.

I wouldn't deviate. It seems to be a solid, and easy to exicute design choice.

Agreed. And it would have kids in the area, so I will need someway of keeping it from getting knocked off. Industrial strength Velcro would probably work...

I would think that glass that fits INSIDE the barrel and secured would be better. If that thing tips to the side, that glass is going to slide off, and even if it were secure, it would probably shatter upon impact on the side.

I bought a barrel last fall, haven't started on mine yet, waiting for warming and longer days.
I was thinking about getting a diamond tipped drill bit and drill four holes in the glass, then secure the glass to the monitor back board (?) with bolts and maybe spacers shaped like barrels, between the glass and the board.
The diamond tipped bits aren't as high as one may think, although I am not looking forward to drilling the holes in the glass. (Google it, there are tutorials on how to do it.)
I may check with my local glass shop to see if they can do it.
I also like your idea, yotsuya, of keeping the glass inside the rim of the barrel, although I think the way griff did it would look better?

If you're going to use it as a glass-topped table, I think it would look better.

I'd think you'd want tempered glass for the top - and I thought you could not drill tempered glass??
