Sorry not sure if you received my PM,

Was a pedestal ever created for the standard bartop? I think one that is easily detatched and doubles as a bookshelf from the front would be really great.  ill be ordering soon regardless!

thanks

Not for the standard bartop, but I can put one together.

Sure, The one on page 21 of this thread was neat, I would prefer something open on the front that can be used for storage or bookshelf/game shelf ..... show me something and a price

You want the pedestal big enough so you can stand at the bartop?

Also, how much spacing you want on the shelves? Big enough for day a 360 game standing up?

Hey, just wanted to double check that you meant a 360 game case (like a DVD case)...  or did you want big enough for an actual 360 console.   ;D  Figured I'd ask before I got too far into the plans.

DVD size case is fine for the spacing, I will not need to fit any gaming consoles onto it, it does not need any additional holes in it for connections either,  looking forward to the finished product

Very nice! Could you include a piece of board to cover the very bottom opening?, I could possibly install a drawer into it.  Also for the edges, I would prefer to have it pre-cut for t-molding.   Let me know the pricing of everything, I want to get the standard bartop, pedestal, polycarbonate bezel & marquee and have everything pre-slotted for t-molding.

I could do that, sure.  Let me get the plans for the pedestal over to the shop so I can find out how much it would run.

HaRuMaN, I got the case and have been assembling it all weekend!

It's been going pretty well (considering my lack of woodworking/planning skills), but I have a few questions that may be dumb:

So I've got those little sticks, that it seems you're supposed to glue(?) into the not-as-deep slats, and then rest the back door and controls on them. I guess my questions are 1) do you glue the sticks into those slots and 2) how do you keep the controls from just lifting off when someone pulls up on a joystick, or the back door from just falling off?

Thanks! (Seriously, this case came out great, and my lack of woodworking skills are barely going to be able to do it justice!)

Not dumb at all.  The thin strips get glued into the sides. How to attach the cp and back is up to you. Some people use screws, some use industrial Velcro, I am going to try strong magnets soon. As far as the back goes, I usually hinge the bottom, and use a lock at the top.

Question for ya

I sent the plans to the CNC person here to see how much it would cost, but they are unsure of the dimensions.  Any idea of them so I can let him know?  It is based off of your rev_c design.

How exactly are they unsure of the dimensions?  It's an Autocad file, the dimensions are in the drawing.  Everything is in inches.

Hello sir!

This may be my final question (haha, who am I kidding), because the constructing part of this may be nearing the end!

So the marquee. You said grab some L-channel? How exactly is that installed? I can't figure out how that would hold plexiglass and a sign. Maybe I'm just not picturing it correctly...

So, if you take a close look you can see 2 screws around the bottom of the marquee area.  This is holding the L-channel on.  The 2nd piece of L-channel is on top.

I am not sure either why they couldn't tell. Oh well. I just wanted to get a price of how much it would cost.  I can't open the autocad file at work and see. They said they can't do square corners either, only rounded

Maybe I'll just order from you, we'll see!

Thanks a bunch sir

Yeah that sounds very weird.  The only corners I can't get square are inside corners, they will always have a small radius to them.  Outside corners, no problem.

Design improvement (thanks malenko!).

Eliminates the issue of having an LCD monitor in a vertical cabinet where the VESA mount holes aren't centered in the vertical direction (monitor oriented normally).

Just tryin to help. I'm still lookin at way to improve the designs. I cant really figure stuff out unless I have the cab in front of me, which is how I thought of this. While putting together my MsPacman mini (project thread to be started later) I had issues getting the monitor centered, so I sent Haruman the idea, he made it a reality.

Now if only I could convince him to send me a Midway cocktail for free........

I tried 3 non-autocad programs to open it and none of them show dimensions :\

Maybe I just need autocad to see them.  I tried getting the trial for it, but it wont install.  Oh well, ill try again after thanksgiving

Download draftsight, it's free, that's what I use to draw. You will have to use the dimension tool to make the dimensions show up, but they're a part of the drawing.

An draft sight.  I had it but didn't know about the dimension tool.  Will try!

Kinda figured it out, using smart dimensions, it puts big dimensions and you can drag it around; correct?

Do you have the cnc file for the 2-player version?  I didnt see it on the first page and looked around a few pages

I would send you a PM with this, but it won't work for me

Alright came up with another question:

In this thread a few people showing finished products, the edges of the two side panels have this nice black plastic edging. I don't know how to find that. I tried "edging" at amazon, but all it has is gardening stuff. I don't even know if its called edging.

What's that stuff?! :)

EDIT: Edge Banding. Found it. Of course as soon as I ask. haha

EDIT2: Okay so... Do you just get it 1/2 inch wide and iron it on? I can't find it 1/2 inch wide in my basic google/amazon searches.

It's called T-Molding.

http://www.t-molding.com/ is a regular place to get it.
Groovy Game Gear has it too.

If you look at the bartop pic in the very first post of this thread you will see a groove cut into the wood.  The leg of the "T" molding gets pressed/tapped/beaten into that groove.

Just picked up 2 standard bartops, 1 standard pedestal, and this thing:

Customer commission of a bartop designed to fit an X-arcade tankstick (tankstick not included).
