I've read a lot of posts on the virtual pinball sites regarding the holes for the legs, saying it's much to difficult to drill after the cab is built. Beyond that, are you planning on having a hole for any DMD? (Yes, I realize it's just a preliminary sketch. I'm just spitballing.)

Assume for this design you are not using melamine with all those exposed edges.

Leg holes are better done ahead of time, i certainly cnc mine upfront.

Monitor location looks pretty low in the cab.

Button placement will likely interfere with monitor, flippers look a little high and forward.

Assume your going for a 2 screen setup.

There should also be a ledge at the front of the backbox.

Waiting to hear back from the customer on the DMD.  And as far as the holes for the legs go, how are you planning on having them CNC'ed at a 45 degree angle, unless your CNC shop has a 4-axis setup?

I didn't. I have them cut through on both the front and back as well as the sides. The corresponding holes are just large enough for the commonly used bolts, and will work fine to "guide" the bolts through...



From what I've seen, the legs come with both covers and inside brackets, which help to square them up with the rest of the cabinet.

That's a 24" for both monitors, but I can easily adjust the top for a 19" 4:3 if needed.

And yes, this is 1/2" mdf.  There was no way to do this well in black melamine due to the exposed edges...

Now, all that's missing is a PRICE. (And are you planning on routing the t-molding slots around the backbox, or will this be at an additional cost?)

Yeah, I need to get the quote back from my cnc guy. Looks like this design will take about a sheet and a half of mdf.

Slot cutting will be the same deal as my other kits. :-)

Your right I do have a distinct advantage that I already have a fullsize pin and DK kit that I just needed to reduce. plus not being dependant on other people for the cnc work. Still looking forward to us now being able to cover west coast, east coast and Canada!!

So is the 2-player model built around the Asus Evo monitor dimensions?  I'm guessing that would be the recommended monitor to buy?  I'm also a big fighting game fan, so less lag is good.

Can you tell me how deep you cut the slots for the t-molding? And how you limit the cut depth of your slot cutter?

Since the pockets are 1/4" deep and prety close to the edge you might cut into them if you cut at the full depth of a "Standard" slot cutter.

It has an open port for the blade, and adjustable back guards, which move forward and backwards, as well as side to side.

I do, but that is inadequate for limiting depth of cut, especially on curved / angled pieces.

The standard 1/16" slot cutter, out of the box, cuts the slots WAY too deep, like twice as deep as they need to be.

What I ended up doing was purchasing a larger bearing separately, and replacing the stock (smaller) bearing on the cutter.  That way the depth of cut is always mechanically limited by the slot cutter itself.

Or, you could just exercise more control over the piece you're routing. There's no reason you can't use the table if you're cautious.

issue is you need to get pretty hands on if you are trying to gauge it, bearing is the way to go.
