Damn, I guess next of kin is out of the question too, huh.  ;D

That did turn out great, would not have expected anything less from you.
I have always loved cocktail tables besides cabinets.  They are nice for chill mode & to put your beers on when playing.   another thing to add to my list. ::) ;D

I have to get final pricing from my cnc guy, but it's looking to be under $200 shipped for the melamine kit.

Haruman, how about one of those red tent nintendo cabs, or some kind of viewlux made the same way? Any plans for some kind of racing cab?

A racing cab? The only way I see a CNC kit for one of those if its styled like an early pole position or spy hunter sit down. A lot of parts would have to be sourced, through. And I'm guessing pretty pricey.
The red tents were all metal, not sure how a wooden one would work out. But the idea intrigues me. Maybe some kind of head-to-head bar-top setup? Maybe even just a stand option for those with one or two bar-tops already?

So, New kit designs in progress:

1) Atari cabaret - 80% done
2) mini virtual pin cabinet - 30% done

Other ones in consideration:

Mini-vewlix
Mini-Nintendo
Pedestal

Haven't thought about a racing cab yet... Or a red tent. Let me think about those

The 'mini-Nintendo' one is a toughy. I've been working on that one myself, and it just doesn't look 'perfect'... It may just be my render, or maybe my measurement conversion is off a bit.

Amazing ideas, as always.

NINTENDO BAR-TOP!!!!

Phew, sorry. Killer day at work and had no lunch, a little light headed.  :lol

Can't wait to see the atari cabaret (you got all you needed?). One kit idea that comes to mind that I haven't seen anyone try is the old Nintendo cabaret, ala Donkey Kong:

That would be a cool little kit.

I think I have all I need. About 90% done. What kind of material are you wanting to make this from?

That other cabaret is pretty sweet, too.

Would this be one sheet of material or two for the atari cab? I'd say the sides should still be 3/4", but you could make the internals, top, bottom, front, and back 1/2" if this requires two sheets and you want to keep cost/weight down. The "internals" sheet could be black and the "sides" sheet could be white.

I'm not sure how you'll have everything laid out on the material, but the finished look for a normal unit would just be the wood paneling on the sides, all other external surfaces black, with internal black or unfinished. If this all fits on one sheet, you could laminate each side differently (one black, one white or wood grain) and just lay them out so they'll still assemble to get the final look.

Man, it looks like  I need to start repairing the boards for my centipede  ;D

It looks like it will take 2 sheets. Problem is, can't fit 2 sides on one sheet, so it will all be 3/4", and it will all be the same material.

I can do a white melamine, or black, or woodgrain... Or if you want something really nice I can do a Baltic birch plywood.

Let's go with black melamine. It would be easier to prep just the sides (if needed) for the side art, than painting everything else black.

Ok, take a look.

While the main panels aren't tabbed, their supports are, so that should make construction easier.

It looks great! But there a couple pieces missing:

- Control panel bracket sides (2)
- Control panel back brace (1)
- Cardboard surround / bezel mounting strips (2)
- Monitor bracket backing braces (2)   (these do not need to be the full length of the monitor bracket)

None of that needs to be slotted due to variations of what monitors people use.

I made some minor adjustments in the layout you had to make any needed space on the sheets (marked in yellow). Not sure how this works with the CNC, just making suggestions.
Also, didn't see in your graphic if any accommodation was made in the recessed cuts for the marquee or speaker grill.

Is this considered a customer commission? I'm wondering if you'd consider a partnership for Nitz' request? Maybe we figure what the design is worth to you, sell it to Nitz (or me) and have me carve it for Nitz, for Canadian distribution?

Maybe this belonged in a PM? Maybe I'm just being transparent.

OK, the original has the straight through hole in the smaller dimensions, but require a recess of the larger dimension on the outside face to accommodate the glass and metal grill, I'd say 1/4 deep. Sorry for not making that clear before. I think I got both the inner and outer dimensions in the previous posts :

I sure hope this isn't a one-off! I'd hate to see so much work going into something just for me. There should be other people in these forums looking for an Atari cabaret. At the very least I'll order another when I start my Major Havoc build. He's got a dedicated customer in me, until I -eventually- get my own workshop that is ;)

What is the width of that MVS bartop?

Same as the standard bartop, so ~18.82" wide, control panel is 17.72" wide.

Is there any way you could build a kit for the Little Ms. Pac-man (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,128666.0.html) that Griffindodd (aka Maximus) designed and make it fit the asus 23" evo monitor?  I would be down for one of those for sure.

I wanted to say I'm glad and appreciative you're doing this for people like me who want a bartop but aren't in a situation to do the woodwork.

Mini vewlix would be a super rad addition.
