The Harulix does look damn good.  Why no melamine for it?

It'll be more apparent as I assemble it...  Melamine just wouldn't work for the way this is going to be put together.  I'll be posting pictures as the build progress.

Do you that one for both monitor and power supply since it has a total of 6 prongs ? (3 prongs for the monitor and 3 prongs for the power supply)

Also, how do you guys make the monitor and the power supply turn on at the same time?  My monitor has a button for on/off so when I mount the monitor inside the bartop cabinet,  how can it be turned on without pushing the on/off button of the monitor.  The same goes for the power supply.  I just want to push the power button outside the cabinet and both the monitor and the computer will turn on automatically at the same time.

I believe on those the 3 silver connectors are the ones used for the wiring (both monitor and PSU hook to the same 3 connectors ) the other brass ones are actually used to wire the LED light inside the switch (which could also be wired with the monitor and PSU wire - so you'd have 3 wires to each of the silver connectors.

As far as both turning on at the same time since you are wiring both directly to the switch it would turn on both when it is turned on -- Most monitors will turn on without pressing the button on the front if you did not press the button to turn it off (ie. if the monitor is turned on and you disconnect power or turn off the switch on a surge protector ar in this case the switch you are adding once power is restores (ie. you turn that added switch back on) the monitor will turn on -- There are some that require the button on the front of the monitor be pressed in which case you'd need to build with some way of accessing that button but the majority of monitors now do not require that and as long as the monitor was on when the power was turned off by another switch once it is turned back on the monitor will power up ( To test plug your monitor in - turn it on - unplg the cord from the wall outlet (do not turn off the monitor) - plug the cord back in and see if the monitor comes back on (if it does the monitor will be fine to use without needing to press the on button on the monitor - once it is pressed once it stays on and will come back on each time power is present until the button is turned off by pressing it)

For the computer you will want to run the 2 wires that go to the power on switch jumper on the MOBO to a momentary switch (you can use an arcade button like the green one I did shown in the pic posted of my bartop above) So the 2 wires that normally run from the MOBO to the front of the case to the power on button run to that green button just like any other button wire is connected (1 to negative 1 to NO)

By doing this once you plug the system into the wall power goes to that new on\off switch you installed -- If you turn the switch on power goes to the monitor (which powers on as long as the button on the front of the monitor was not pressed to turn it off) - then you press the Green button which turns on the computer (just like it would if you had the computer inside a case and pressed the on button) and the computer and monitor both come to life -- Then when finished you press the green button again (Be sure in windows you set the on\off button to "SHUT DOWN SYSTEM" in the power options so that it correctly shuts down windows rather than just shutting off power without shut down of the OS) - wait for the system to turn off and then turn of the power switch wich turns off the monitor and the remaining power to the system. Then when ready to play again you turn the power switch back on which turns on the monitor and press the green button to boot the system.

Is there anyway to miniaturize the Harulix to make it a bartop?

The full size one looks so big.

Yeah, it's designed to hold a 32" LCD.   ;D

I've been asked that by a couple of people, so yes, I will look into it.

I wonder why no company make arcade bartop cabinet out of aluminum like we see with computer cases?  Those computer cases are light and tough.
If they can make many computer cases out of aluminum, they can certainly create many styles of bartop cabinet.

But then again.....arcade bartop is only a niche market and not many people are into it.  That is why there is not a lot of demand for it.

Sounds too noisy. Wood is easiest for everyone to modify themselves once they get a kit.

What are the interior dimensions of the marquee area on the standard (non-widescreen) kit?  I am interested in finding a small LCD monitor to put in there to display the marquee image of the current game and was just wondering what would be able to fit in there (to even begin looking to see if something that size is even made).

Also, after building the kit this past weekend, there were several things I had to learn through trial and error that you should probably list in the first post.  Namely, I had to take several trips to the hardware store to find the right screws to work with the VESA mount.  I knew the standard VESA screw size is M4-.07, but had no idea on what length to get since it had to go through 1/2" of wood.  I found that at least 25mm works (20mm wasn't long enough to reach the threads on my particular monitor).  You might want to list that screw size in the first post to help others tackling this build.

Also, I didn't know ahead of time how the monitor plexi would fit in there, so the monitor I have has to mount in a way where it is all the way up against the back of the speaker panel.  This prevents the plexi from sliding up between the monitor and the speaker panel.  So now I need to cut it short to sit over the monitor.  It would have been helpful to know how the plexi was supposed to go in this kit before I did all that.

Anyway, the kit was relatively easy to put together, but those small details would have been nice to know ahead of time.

Noted, I will get those details up.

I believe the interior marquee area on the standard kit is 17.75" X 3.5"

Do you have any pictures of the vertical version for 180 bucks? Is it full size vertical?

I'm looking for a cabinet that can hold a monitor 22 inches wide.

The vertical is a bartop that can hold a 17" 4:3 vertically.

I do have a widescreen bartop that can house up to a 23" widescreen LCD (it's also 2 players).

how much for the wide one?  Also, how hard would it be to build a stand for it to make it like a full upright?

The wide one is $160 (or $170 with slot cutting).  Polycarbonate (plexiglass) for the monitor area & marquee are an additional $40.

I have had requests for stands, but haven't had the chance to draw one up & get it prototyped yet, but it is going to be coming soon.

How soon?  I'm in no hurry at this point.

Can you also appox the cost of the base?

Also, for the wide, what are the dimensions for the control panel?

Couple of weeks? Cost will depend on the cnc shop and shooting costs, so I'll let you know.

The wide control panel is 22" wide, I will check the depth

I'd rotate that control panel side vertical like the other 3 just incase you ever plan on cutting this thing out with a woodgrain finish like prefinished plywood.

Ack.  You're absolutely right.  This is gonna get cut from a woodgrain melamine, and that panel would not look right.  Good catch.

First of all Thx Degenatrons and HaRuMan for keeping these plans "open source"  :notworthy:

Since I have my own CNC router I'm planning on converting the plans to 12mm panels instead of 1/2" (12.7mm) so I can route them myself.

However I've got a question about the plexiglass bezel:

I can't find details on the size and how this is positioned inside the cabinet so I was wondering if the way I interpreted it in this drawing is correct?

I extend the plexiglass a bit more behind the speaker panel & behind the control panel.  When I install the monitor, the pressure is enough to hold the plexi in place.
