My WIP. I think I''m going to keep this one simple with a black and white theme. Not quite sure yet.  :dunno

Did you not use the two other pieces of wood that was included for the vesa mount board?

In the original instructions there are two pieces of wood to glue to the vesa panel then mount, I can't tell if you still used these and they're on the other side of yours or not.

No I didn't use them. Typically they form a U around the monitor, but the monitor I used was too big for that (20" 4:3 monitor) so instead of those 2 pieces of wood I used the metal corner braces.

Is there a template I can use to set up my artwork?  I got the two player version.

Thanks again for the photos. Just a warning for anyone else using these brackets: the screws included are too long and when I mounted my monitor the screw tip came through the wall of the cabinet. So I recommend finding slightly shorter screws on your own and not using the ones included.

I use 1/2" lathing screws, I should have specified. Hope the damage isnt bad :(

Alternately you could use a couple of washers to space the screws back a bit

It just barely broke through. I think it will be fine once I put a decal over it.

Is there any place that sells 1/2" t-molding that has different colors instead of just black or white?

I just realized that gamemolding.com only offers black or white color in 1/2" size :-(

Also, do you guys take the bezel/covering of the monitor off to save space or do you just mount the monitor in its original form?

Unfortunately, 1/2" T-molding only comes in black or white.  I've been meaning to buy some white and attempt to dye it to see if I can get some different colors that way.

I left my monitor (17" 4:3) intact.

  • I want to build my own arcade controls!
I planned to put a touch screen monitor in this bartop arcade.

However, I don't know a solution to getting a border that would be flush with the monitor.  Normally you have a plexiglass in front of the monitor to protect it but since it is a touch screen and I will be playing some games with touch screen capability (using Windows 8 with PC games), I don't think that putting a plexiglass in front of the monitor is ideal.

Any suggestions ?

I am talking about the wide screen 2-player version of this arcade.

I am looking at this monitor from Dell:

cut a square out of the inside of the plexi. Go back a page or 2, that pink machine is my fiancee's and its running a touch screen (she loves spot the difference , hidden object games, and Plants VS Zombies)

  • I want to build my own arcade controls!
This is what I plan for my build.
Please advise:

I will be getting the 2 player wide screen version from Haruman

1.  Monitor:  Dell S2240T, 21.5-inch Monitor touch screen

2.  ASUS Maximus IV Impact motherboard:

3.  Micro ATX power supply:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005CP07BA/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

4.  CPU: Intel Haswell Core i5 4670K
http://microcenter.com/product/413251/Core_i5_4670K_34GHz_Socket_LGA_1150_Boxed_Processor

I hope that getting the Haswell CPU would have enough GPU power to not need a dedicated graphic card.  If it is too weak to play PC games such as Street Fighter 4 PC game, then I will add in a low profile graphic card.

5.  8 GB of RAM

6.  I will use Hyperspin as my front end.

----------

Other accessories such as joysticks, buttons, ect....for the control panel is still deciding on which one to get.

I want to build a bartop arcade that can use touch screen as well as play PC games such as Street Fighter 4 and Street Fighter vs Tekken, etc... without any problem.

So what do you guys think so far?  What do you suggest for the buttons and joysticks?

Well, have a couple more prototypes in hand, will be checking them over this weekend.

First is the degenatron's designed barstick, modded to use the tab / slot construction method.

Second is my own creation, an MVS inspired design, single player, 4:3 monitor.

I should be posting some pics this weekend!

Also, I just submitted a set of vertical plans to my cnc guy for prototyping.

Here is the degenatron's bar stick laid out. (There is a pocket missing on of the sides, a new one had been cut, will get tomorrow).

Other than that everything fits great!

CNC Cut Bartop Kits - Orders Open! New Models Available!

Barstick looks great!!  Well done!  I cant wait to see it built.  how much for this kit?  also, is there any way to add pinball flippers (one on each side)?  And is it possible to have an option to switch from 2player to 1player+trackball control panels?

Thank you for the awesomeness!

Still waiting to hear back from my CNC guy on what the final cost per kit will be, then I can come up with a price.  Box will be quite a bit smaller, and lighter, so that will help on shipping costs.

Right now I'm guessing it'll be under $100, by how much not quite sure yet.

I can add pinball holes, and can make a cp for 1 player with trackball.

The MVS should hold the same screen as the standard, so 17" or 19". A 20.1" should just make it, but it would be tight. Those are all 4:3's, btw.

The bar stick is just a standalone, so no monitor.

Have not seen the bar stick before, I like that idea that you can use any size monitor.  ;D
They look great, cant wait to see a pic of an assembled one of both and the price of them.
Great job again, they look very nice.

edit: I see you have the mvs price up :) thx

So do you use a wireless hdmi transmitter/receiver to use with the bar-stick ?

http://www.amazon.com/Nyrius-Transmitter-Streaming-Satellite-NPCS549/dp/B009E6R89C/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1371006688&sr=8-1&keywords=wireless+hdmi

It would be nice just to bring the bar-stick and wireless hdmi kits to another house for instant game play to any hdtv.

New website & store up & running!

Note it's still a work in progress, so it's a bit rough around the edges, but the cart is active.

Will be getting better pictures, descriptions, etc in the near future.
