It's not if you don't have the time, tools, or technical know-how. And shipped? No one who's bought one is complaining.

Exactly!! I'm not the best with wood tools nor do I have the right tools on hand. Buying wood and all the tools would of cost way more. Plus I would of messed it up or it would of came out crappy. I think the price is perfect. I am very happy with my purchase, cant wait to post some build pics.

isn't $140 a bit much just for wood?

Its cost versus worth. For me, I dont have the tools or the time so 140 is a bargain for me. If you have access to the tools and the lumber then you wouldn't be in the market for kit anyway. The 2.0 kits are pretty amazing mang.  And for comparison's sake, there is another guy selling flatpacked bartops for $150 , so its pretty consistent pricing across the board (PUN!)

You're not just paying for wood, you're paying for pre-cut, pre-laminated wood.  If you don't already have woodworking equipment or space to do the cutting, this is a fantastic value.  This is half the price of mameroom's flat-pack bartop kit.

OP: I want to order one but I cannot send PMs (probably because I just registered).  Your flair says you're a mod, can you fix this?

Then this can be my 2nd post :)

I sent you an email with my order request.  Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.

Have you considered a pedestal kit to turn this into a full-size cab?  Four holes in the bottom of the bartop and top of the pedestal plus four sets of bolts/washers/wingnuts would tie everything together nicely, and it would still be easy to break down for transportation.

Thanks, invoice sent.

And that's not a bad idea.  I'll see what I can come up with.  Probably make a "universal" one, so it could go with the standard or the wide bartop.  I'll probably work on plans for that after I finish the vertical cabinet plans.

Payment sent.  Couple questions:

Do you (or anybody else) have any pics of the 2-player version assembled?  What kind of room do we have to work with for the PC?  Will a microATX board and standard PSU fit, or do we have to get a nanoITX board and external PSU?  Is there enough room vertically for a full-height video card?  Is there room to drill in another pair of button holes (2 rows of 4 total) for both players? Do you happen to know where I stuck the box of arcade controls I bought 12 years ago?

I build one of the v1 machines using a standard size ATX motherboard, regular hard drive, and full size PSU. It's certainly doable.

No pics yet, this is the first run of the 2 player kit.     Design is just a derivative of the 1 player, so assembly will be exactly the same.

Check out Crafty Mech's Sale thread, and PM him that you want the same one Haruman and I have.

As for guts:

I took the lid of the PSU to make it fit under the controls. This is the 1 player cab (V1.0)  so I'm sure there's a lot more room in the 2p version.

Thanks.  That pic gives me a better idea of what I'll have to work with.

PC bits ordered.  Assuming I can find my old buttons and joysticks, I should have all my bases covered.

Can anyone offer any tips for getting the monitor mounted and angled correctly?  So far my only plan is to hold the monitor in the opening and eyeball the angle to mark the mount position the best I can. I've been holding off mounting the monitor because I know I'll end up with half a dozen unused holes before I get it right.

Mount the monitor to the VESA mount board, place cabinet on side, put monitor + mount inside.

I used blue painters tape to mark where the mount should go.  Took the monitor off the mount, placed the mount back inside (no monitor), drilled and installed screws.

I have some USB powered rosewill speakers in mine that work pretty well. I'll try to find the model number for you. They were pretty cheap, too.

cool.

I am going to order another as a spare.

the vga box's are sickening on ebay anymore.

after playing it like that there's no going back to anything else for me, alot of the games even look better then ps2 and xbox games to me.

there is also ways to force most into vga off a disk even if there were not intented too and still look perfect.

Howdy!  First time poster here.  I ran into this forum by following a link in the KADE forum.  And I got to say, thank you for making this kit available to us.  It looks great!  Im wondering if you could make a kit of this stand alone bar-stick:

http://kadevice.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=51&t=325

I think it would be a great idea for those that have very limited space but still want the arcade experience.

I for one would buy this!!  Its an excellent design by Degenatrons of the KADE Team, and I think he would be open to others using it, but I want to ask for his consent first.  If he allows this to be used, would you do it?  Any one else interested?

Once again, thank you

Can't find my box of old controls, so it looks like I'll be ordering new ones.  Does anybody know if there is enough room between the joystick hole and the button holes on the 2P cab to fit an ultimarc E-stick?

There is 3 and 1/16" between the center of the joystick hole and centerline of the first buttons.

Hey,  these plans are open and I'm cool for you to make use of them and improve them as you see fit.  Great if you can contribute to make it better and to move the project forward.   Idea is to have the barstick thing compatible with the weecade bartop so the control panel and marquee can be easily interchanged and reused on a portable unit.

Any chance of a Verticade kit?

I've been looking at options to play with vertical games.  I already have a full-size Blast City cabinet for horizontal games, but I'd like to have a true four-way joystick with a vertical monitor for games like Donkey Kong and Pac Man.  I have a Dell 1905 FP that I'd like to put in vertically with a scanline generator. :)

Yes, as a matter of fact. I have a couple of new designs in the works,a vertical cabinet is one of them.

So a vertical cabinet, a control-panel-only cabinet, and a full-height pedestal are all in the works.  You're a busy beaver!

Some thing like the design I linked below, with a rotating monitor would eliminate the need for separate (horizontal/vertical) cabs.  I do think it could look better and control panel seems too close to the monitor, but I like the idea!
