Ultimarc pushbuttons - any good?
barfybuffet:
How do these buttons compare to Happ's?
I was originally going to get my pushbuttons from Happ, but I am going to do order the J-stiks and Ipac to build a prototype control box from Ultimarc.. so I figured maybe I could reduce one order since I am not able to order everything I want to from Happ and I hear their shipping is pretty steep.

I swear by the Ultimarc buttons/switches. The switches are top quality, made by Honeywell. You can't go wrong there. The ones that come from Happ are pretty cheap and generic. I think they are made in Mexico if memory serves me right. Andy only sells first rate stuff and backs it up with some of the best service that you will find anywhere. Buy with confidence. By the way... are you ever going to love your j-stick!

I agree. The Honeywell microswitches feel more sturdy, and some of the Cherry (Happ) ones I've had have failed pretty quickly :( I'm looking forward to trying my j-sticks too :)

I had better point out at this point that the switches we supply with our buttons are Cherry. We did have some Honeywell ones at first. The Cherry ones are just as good I believe. In fact Cherry are such a huge producer of microswitches that they produce about 50 different types, I don't know what Happ supply with theirs. It's possible they supply the low-force ones which make a kind of ping sound. As for the actual plastic body of the button, I did have some samples sent from the Far East, which were direct copies of the I-L ones we sell. They were cheaper but they went in the bin, because they just looked second rate, with rough edges and a dull finish with molding marks on them. So I decided to stick with the slightly more expensive European ones.
