So I spent some time looking through all the entries, and I made my pick. It may not be the flashiest machine out there, but SwitchCade by TopJimmyCooks is truly innovative (The geared, slide-apart control panel is unique as far as I know.) What you need to consider is the versatility- A lot of those really flashy machines have more of a fixed control panel. SwitchCade isn't the only swappable panel machine out there, but it is among the very best at accurately representing the controls of the largest number of games. I have physically played on SwitchCade, and can attest to its solid feel and immersive, "real" experience. The auto-rotate monitor is pretty pimptastic, if not quite as unique. Another thing is that SwitchCade was made by a first-time, low budget builder that got a lot of mileage out of DIY techniques and materials. This should be considered when the machine sits next to ones with beautiful, but farmed-out graphics. OK, OK- so this is obviously a plug, or at least a plea. Suffice it to say that my last name is also "Cooks." However, I still employ everyone that votes to go by more than appearance, which does matter, but to also consider the deeper aspects and technical achievements, and unparalleled versatility that SwitchCade offers. Thanks! |

My vote went to TheShaner's Alien abduction. I've had a chance to sit down and actually play on it, and Not only is it totally balls out super mega awesome, but the dude who made it is pretty much the coolest guy on the planet. From what I read in the thread he was drunk most of the time he was making it, planned virtually 0%, repeatedly messed up portions of it, and strictly adhered to a limitless budget. :burgerking: |

My bro's lobbying aside, I already voted on day 1 for the Revolution. Not so much because of the art although it's quite well done. Def not because of that video where 20 seconds of the cab are wiped in over a vid someone else animated I think? granted Griff said WIP on that. Just breaking your stones, man. The total package - rotation functionality, dual monitor, a form factor that hasn't been done before, the pinball angle, and everything. It's just the best stand up this year. I don't like the visible subwoofer and don't care about the tablet, but it's a minor niggle. the halftone dots when you see the bezel of the lower monitor and tied in with the sideart was genius. If HS ever learns to handle a vertical layout it'll be over the top, but I don't feel that holds anything back here as presented. Regardless of what happens, congratulations to Griff on an awesome standup. Good move also to everybody for managing to finish in 2012 so you're not up against Ond (in 2014). 8) |

All kidding aside, Griff's cab is the clear winner this year in my book. All of the entries are great in their own respect, but Revolution really took quality and innovation to a new level. It's not green, but its damn cool. With that said. Vote for my cab. |
