A bit more work but very customizable and alot better performance for less money.  You can add many more emulators so your choice is much greater than just MAME.  Just look around this board and see how many use XXXX in 1 boards vrs PCs and Xboxs to run their cabs.

Exactly. You could make the decision to choose configuring a PC over all others for strictly the Front-End's GUI choices..

A front-end program like MaLa, Hyperspin, or MAMEUI that allows you to organize and launch games easily.

Windows (icon based, navigate with a mouse clicks) is an example of a Graphical User Interface (GUI), compared to Unix/Linux/DOS. (text based, navigate with keyboard commands)
