Just found this thread from mike boss on the forum.  I'll stick it in the dropbox folder.
http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,131257.0.html

just got drop box for my android and seen the images and also followed the link, fantastic find, i can reverse engineer that for hyperspin. i will try and get a few designs out there so people can have something to choose from.. again once i get off from work (about 3 more hours)... being a store manager of Autozone takes away most of my time  :banghead:

The sound amp is from a Kinyo PA-116, so if you want the same audio amp that's in the FIFJr arcade machines, grab those speakers and you should be golden.

Sweet.
I will swing by my store tomorrow and pick up a few of these.
Thanks for the info!

I picked up the last 2 they had!

So now we have the actual amp.
But what kind of speaker is that?
Does'nt look like a Nintendo Speaker.

Glad you found the speakers!  That's a good question...  the speaker looks like a Nintendo speaker but is still rather different.  It's probably a newer speaker that has the same dimensions and specs as the Nintendo/Sanyo speaker (6" and 4 ohms).  Perhaps the prop people building the cabinets bought a bulk order of generic speakers to install.

@Bag of Magic Food:

That looks like BadBoyBill's game in RidicRick's cabinet.

I wouldn't be so sure.  I hear button presses, as if the guy was hitting "Jump" to move up.  You should only need to push up.  May have been a user issue.

In the video comments it says that the game bugged out...I think this was the bug that also happened during the show.

That is more of a game design flaw than a user issue, IMHO.  Having two different ways to move up is bound to cause confusion.  I understand that game play requires jumping over obstacles and moving between floors, and honestly I can't think of a better way to solve those two requirements, but new users will (and clearly do) suffer confusion, at least at first.

I second the idea of a 4:3 version.  Do you have all the original files, maybe I can take a stab at making one?  I made a couple of themes on the old theme creator but then was using a newer version and I couldn't figure out how to export it right.  Maybe I'll try and look at it again this weekend.

Honestly, I know he worked hard on it.
But i believe the best version is HERE!
There is way to much of a high hop between windows when Felix moves.
The look and feel of it kinda reminds me of the Smartphone version.
It seems to all be moving too slow also.
Or is it just me?

The biggest difference between BBB version and Sjaaks is the there is a community providing input and review to Sjaak while BBB seems to be a solo project. So I firmly believe in Sjaaks version over his.

I totally agree with that. That is the way he wanted it however.
And i believe it showed at the Midwest Gaming Classic unfortunately.
He may have also concentrated a little too much on the Bells and Whistles.
That are not true to the Arcade version.

I agree that sjaaks version is superior, but I would love to play BBB's version just to compare the 2.

Ridickrick has access to both version and I wouldn't mind his opinion on both.

he did the entire game by himself for several months as a challenge to himself, i think its a fantastic rendition of the game even if its buggy. i just think we should stop comparing the two and not start any kind of potential drama.

I was watching the No Quarter video again.
So here is the J-PAC that's inside the original machine.
You can use a JAMMA harness and a Authentic arcade monitor with it.

http://www.ultimarc.com/jpac.html

Not a bad price either. $59.00

This is probably the Joystick they used or close to it.
I actually have it in my DK and Felix Mini.
It works great !

http://www.twistedquarter.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=190_193&products_id=1217

So now we know the Amp,Computer and Controller.

I would like to know the Monitor Brand?

Slowly getting parts together for my cab project... although, I'm still waiting for $2000 to be given back to me before I can actually start the parts hunt. It's been a frustrating couple of weeks watching progress being made and me being unable to contribute.

Well, if there's any truth to the fact that Disney converted DK games to FIFJr games, the CRT would be a Sanyo EZ, which is a 19" monitor that also has a sound amp built in.  I'm going to go with a 19" LCD just for ease of installation, easier maintenance, and less weight pulling down on the cabinet wood.

I might go the LCD route myself as well. I guess it all bubbles down to how I actually go about the cabinet. If I use a beat Nintendo cab, I'll use the original CRT, but if I build it myself, I'm positive I'll use a newer monitor.

You can always use the scanline and curvature option on a lcd screen to make it look like a crt screen.

So i was curious about the Sanyo EZ Monitor (Disney using it?)
I couldn't remember if the Monitor used a isolation transformer or not?
Because the NO QUARTER video of the real cabinet, There is no room in the bottom of the cabinet.
For a isolation transformer With all the stuff in it, Computer etc...

So i opened up my POPEYE for a look.
To my surprise No isolation transformer.
It plugs straight in. So Disney could have used the SANYO if they wanted too?

Here's some pics.

that outlet is connected to your isolation transformer. Your monitor is 100v. Take a reading where it plugs in with a multimeter.

I'm wondering the same thing, IF Disney used EZ 20's, what do you think they used to get the color inversion correct from the HP to the monitor? I purchased this color inverter from Mike's Arcade, but now I'm thinking this isn't going to do what I want it to: http://www.mikesarcade.com/cgi-bin/store.pl?sku=NININVAMP. Any advice?

If it is a Sanyo EZ monitor, then maybe the FIFJr game's colors from the actual game are inverted.

No, they were definitely CRTs.  Some of the games at DisneyQuest were pretty messed up actually with flicker and degaussing problems, lol.

So now that the real game (albeit a beta version) has been leaked, what's the next plan of action?

I really wanna continue working on this project to make it better than the currently leaked beta game.  Add a options/ test screen menu ala BBB's version, add the missing High Score jingle that the leaked game doesn't have, etc.  What do you think, Sjaak?

I will continue working on the game, using this version as a guideline.

I will probably replace some of the sprites (after color correcting them), but it's amazing to see how close the sprites from slydsho and nipmsg are to the actual game sprites. And I really don't like the color of the bulldozers on the real game.

And maybe i will replace 1 or 2 sounds, but the effects from mrsinistar sound so much better...and of course some of the sounds are missing in the real game (high score entry and player switch)

That's great to hear!  I was surprised to hear how close I did get with my sound effects and I'm honored that you like my sound effects more, that means a lot, thanks.

And slydsho and nipmsg did a phenomenal job on the sprites...theirs look dead on accurate :D

Thanks again Sjaak for creating and coordinating such a fantastic game.  We all really appreciate it. :)

I agree with the sound on the leaked beta, kinda sucky.  The leaked version also doesn't support fullscreen in horizontal orientation unless I'm missing something.  And, maybe someone else has had a different experience but the leaked game plays on my Windows 7 machine fine but I can't get it to work on XP.

Kudos to all the guys in the thread who have been doing so much and I'm even more floored after trying the actual game to know just how close and sometimes exceeding sjaak's version has become.    :burgerking:

Since the actual arcade game was an attempt at recreating a period game, I would say it is still very arguable which version is more authentic.

I haven't had the luxury of trying your version to compare sounds and game play with, but I agree with you on the bulldozer sprite in that slydsho and nipmsg made it look nicer, colour-wise.
