Joystick Assembly/Wireing help
hunterjwizzard:
So I got one of these http://www.ultimarc.com/servostik.html joysticks, and have hit a wall pretty much right away. There is no documentation whatsoever beyond the advertising copy. After hours of searching the web I have figured out that I need to dasey chain the Common leads and then wire each of the Normally Open leads up to... and thats where the wall comes up.
The controller board has only 4 leads on it, unhelpfully labeled 1+ 1- 2+ and 2-, I can assume these are the axis, and that the NOs should be wired to them(though in what order I am unsure). But that leaves me with three other leads(the common and the two wires from the motor/servo) and no clues as to where they should go(the image on the site seems to depict the two wires from the motor going into either the two far-right slots on the control board or the two middle slots, however the control board that I have in my posession is different from the one depicted).
I've had no luck posting on other forums so here's hoping for some help.
Thank you.

The controller board is only used to control the switching between 4-way and 8-way for up to 2 sticks.
I'm pretty sure you connect the red and black motor leads to 1+ and 1- respectively.

What you need to connect to the microswitches is an encoder like an I-Pac.
The daisy chain ground connects to the upper right, with the Normally Open (NO) microswitch leads from the joystick directions and buttons going to the other screw terminals as labeled on the board.

Ahhhh, all right, that explains a lot.
Tell me: would something like the uhid(http://u-hid.com/home/index.php) controller board also work? I already have one of those on order.
PL1:
A U-HID will work just fine.
More expensive than an I-Pac, but much more versatile.
Hope you bought a wiring harness to go with it. (MUCH easier that way.)

I'd actually been planning a lot of uses for the u-hid, the joystick was an after-thoguht, but I ended up getting it first thanks to a bit of a mix-up. Its just good to know I won't have to ALSO purchase an I-pac now.
Thank you so much for your help!
