Have I messed up buying atari volcano button switch?.
rockyrocket:
Hey guys, so I want some advice on if you think I have made a purchasing error.
So in an effort to get some switches for Atari volcano buttons I ordered THESE and what with import tax they were not cheap.
My problem is that when they arrived they do not have a lense/ plunger to actuate the micro switch unlike the one in the picture.
Now I know the image is just an illustration, and the description is very poor - but would you expect the whole unit? as its described as a push button and not a switch.
Or am I just buying a micro switch and expecting too much, as-is it is unless I can fudge some thing together they are useless.
I have contacted Newark asking if my order is incomplete or if extra parts are needed if they can then supply links for me to buy, so far with no reply.
Have any of you ordered these and what arrived if you did?.
The site says that as it is a special order item then returns are not possible, anyone know what the distance buying rules are in the US?.
Anyway any thoughts are welcome, and lets see what Newark say when they get back to me.

$20 EACH? Hell yeah, they better answer your question.
Nephasth:
I would have expected the plungers to come with the switches based on the pic and description, especially since the same part number is on the side of the switches you received and the one pictured. I've ordered from Newark before (only one small joystick for my Troubleshooter), and their communication is way more than I expected. I've never contacted them, but they've called me twice after my purchase to make sure I'm satisfied and also send me discount coupons via email and snail mail.
PL1:
Ouch! I hate to say it, but your situation looks pretty bad.
Assume that anything with the disclaimer,

is never what the picture shows, x100 if the description is murky, and x1000 if you don't have a manufacturer's datasheet that clearly shows what that specific part number is.
For what you paid, you could have contacted Stephen at VGP and confirmed if this switch or this switch would work.
Even these NOS switches would have been cheaper than this is going to turn out.
If you don't mind solid instead of LED, there's a link here.
Of course, if you really want to kick the hornet nest, tell everyone you ordered some from here. >:D  :bat :404 :duckhunt (In case anyone missed it I am kidding about this last one.)
While you're waiting for Newark to answer, try browsing the parts breakout here.

Looks like 11-932.2 might be the lens you're looking for.
This page has a list of the lamps that go with the 11 series buttons.
Hope this helps.

EDIT: VGP is now doing business as arcadefixit.com.

Yeah at the moment I am still open minded/ optimistic will see what they say.
If all else fails PL1 then atleast I should be able to find a source of lenses ( with your google-foo :) ), just wish it would not of been a 2 month wait for them in the first place.
