Disregard!

It was a bad RAM chip.  Tested the RAM, the 2nd chip failed.  Pulled it out, runs better than ever.

Hi everyone.  I just recently got a PGA Golf that was converted to a SSB and looking for a different harddrive.  Game will start to boot but gets hung up on message, "Ok, booting the kernel".

The cabinet may be PGA but are you expecting it to boot to SSB?

Yes, I believe it should boot to SSB.  I found the CDs on ebay (https://www.ebay.com/itm/254731543458) and hopefully they will help.

If you’re expecting and wanting it to boot to SSB, then this is the wrong thread. You need to find one for SSB.

Thanks that makes sense.

If I want to switch it back to PGA Tour, what would I need?

Yes, it did.  I believe it's a NB32-SL motherboard with V9280 video card.

I believe you can install PGA onto that computer if you have the system recovery disc and game discs but you don’t have the most important component in that computer which is required for PGA - the Nytric card.

Without the nytric card, PGA will not run. It connects the controls to the computer and PGA does a check for this nytric before it will allow the game to run.

As long as it’s the PGA wire harness, I think you’re good to convert it back to PGA - assuming you have the discs and dongle.
If you don’t, send me a message.

New to the Global VR community and I've read a lot of the notes on here to start my journey. I just need a little help ...

I bought a Gx620 tower to replace the non working set up. However, I cannot get a network connection with XP embedded so that I can download the drivers for the new Geforce7200 I added.

Ideas on how to work through this?

Also, how to I sign up for the FB group. It seems to be hidden ....

TBH, i wouldn't just cruise a windows XPe willy nilly on the internet... it's sadly outdated browsers won't properly connect to most websites without a fight... and if you manage to get it going... it's fairly easy to pick up a virus from a simple malformed ad on a website due to the probably 1000's of security holes that have been patched since XPe's release.

i suggest you hit up the dell website and nvidia with your main rig and plunk in the models and rip all the installs you need onto a USB stick since it looks like you have support for USB already in the device manager. this will probably be your safest option given what you will be able to do with XPe.

Hey there, Dongle Dave.
The PGA FB page is for online players. It is not a troubleshooting site.

Hoping someone smarter than me has an easy fix for this -- I’m having an issue with my PGA Tour Team Challenge where the [Turn Left] button will not work.  I’ve been troubleshooting for several weeks and cannot fix it,.  Here are the details:

My pedestal has both a PC for PGA Tour TC and  Silver Strike Bowling 2009, I am switching the controls between them manually (no switcher)
SSB has no issues and all buttons are working, PGA TC was working fine for several months – I swapped out the old JAMMA harness from the arcade that was frayed and cut up with a brand new JAMMA and that’s when I ran into the issue with the Turn Left button for PGA
The pedestal control panel/trackball/buttons are using the Silver Strike panel from the arcade (along with original SSB PC inside the cab)
The PGA Tour is running on a Dell computer -- I have the Nytric card and Jamma to Nytric conversion connected, and this was 100% functional prior to changing the JAMMA (no longer have the original JAMMA)

I followed plans outlined in the Global VR conversion doc linked here:
https://service.globalvr.com/downloads/golf/Team_Challenge/040-0012-03_PGA_Conversion-Team_Chall-web.pdf

*I do not have a card reader, coin switch, speaker, or video connected from the system (audio and video come direct from the PC)

The new JAMMA I’m using is this one: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07S86558Y/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_0M23RDFVRG46CHHKVY3W?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

JAMMA connections I am using below:
#17 to START
#20 to SHOT TYPE
#21 to FLY OVER
#22 to TURN LEFT
#23 to TURN RIGHT
#28 has the GROUND daisy chain that connects to each button/switch

*Turn Left WORKS on Silver Strike, does not work for PGA*

Silver Strike Wiring Diagram linked here: https://amusement.itsgames.com/downloads/manuals/SSBC_Manual_1009.pdf

*The only difference I can see is that SSB doesn’t use #1 and #2 for GROUND, only #27 and #28?*

Steps I have tried for troubleshooting:
-Swapped the Turn Left microswitch with a known-working switch
-Connected the Turn Left wire to other buttons that are working
-Changed out the JAMMA to Nytric conversion board for a new one
-Changed out the DB37 connector between the conversion board and Nytric with new one

I am thinking there is an issue with the grounding, but I can’t figure it out, any ideas are appreciated!

Maybe you can pause the video and see the jamma -nytric set up in this video?

VERY helpful, thanks!  I paused it on your JAMMA conversion board, it looks like you've cut the GND wires on ports 1 & 2 and only using GND from 27 & 28.  Any chance you know where the GND wires from 27 and 28 are connecting?  I have the daisy chain ground-wire connecting to all of the buttons, but not sure what to do with the additional black wires coming off of there.

My trackball and Rotate Left button currently do not work, all other buttons work.  When I connect to Silver Strike, all buttons and the trackball work, so I'm pretty sure I'm just not setting up GND correctly for PGA...

I wish I still had this cabinet in my possession to check for you but this cabinet is with its new owners now.

The jamma harness was left how I found it when I got this empty cabinet. I didn’t cut the grounds. Some previous owner did, I guess.
I did remove a lot of useless wires from the cabinet that were for silver strike or golden tee and any loose ground wires I just grounded to the cabinet floor or inside the control panel.

Perhaps you should give that a try.

Have you grounded your trackball?

Thanks, I'll give that a try.  The trackball is grounded, it's working on SSB....the funny thing is that my previous JAMMA harness was the old SSB harness and it worked fine on PGA too.  I tossed it because it was all frayed and cut up and replaced with a clean new one, and that's when I ran into the issues.   Will keep messing around with the ground wires and see what happens, appreciate the info!

The Facebook page is for PGA cabinet owners who are playing online.
You don’t own a cabinet and you’re not online.
Even if someone provided you a link, you wouldn’t be approved by an admin as you’d fail the screening process.

Hey all.  I just started on this adventure and now I'm hooked.  I have all the recovery CDs for the TC edition and installed it on a Dell XPS pc but my real question is how do we get this installed on newer hardware?  Really SATA drives if possible since they are more prevalent these days.

Also, do we need to install XP Embedded, or will full XP Pro work?

Thanks,
Andy

Anyone have a recommendation on where to put the Nytric card if it doesn't fit in my Dell?  Had it out in my cabinet but it eventually stopped working, want to make sure I don't break the new one.

Hi All,

Just got a new to me cabinet and loving things so far.
I saw on the Wikipedia entry that one can change characters in the system files. I was able to copy over Tiger onto one of the fantasy characters, but haven't been able to change anything on the menu selection screen? Has anyone had success with that?

Would also be interested in getting online, would the files I've adjusted affect anything there?

You can pass that nytric right over here :)  Will pay $75 for it right now

Like drummer_god said, the rest of the computer is pretty much trash/worthless.  Dongle is unnecessary due to the emulator, the motherboard/PC is slow/outdated and hte game can be run on more modern hardware, etc.

The server is still going strong and i'm about to release 720P/1080P HD patches.

There's an emulator now?
I have a working team challenge, but it does not have all access. 1080p sounds fantastic
how would one go about upgrading to HD?

Edit
I found the YouTube video that discusses the files needed and how to add them, which is cool, I had no idea.
1080p in this game with all access would be awesome

EDIT: For posterity, the 10th or so driver I tried worked. It is version: VGA_XP_2K(175.16): https://www.driverscloud.com/en/services/GetInformationDriver/44084-14189/nvidia-vga-xp-2k17516zip ...now to get a card reader and the other drivers installed now that it boots into game.

Does anyone have a CHD or something for an upgraded TC? I am at my wit's end. I have tried 5 different intel chipset computers, multiple sets of restore discs, and I can get everything installed, but I just can't seem to get a running machine. I keep getting "memory could not be read" errors, I believe since It all seems to come down to the video card. I keep reading about people getting up to 9000 series geforce cards to work, but I have tried 3 different cards (9500GT, 9600GSO, 9800GT) and at least 5 different XP drivers. None of them will even install on XPe (except one 175.xx beta driver that will install but the only mode it gives is 16 colors). If someone who has upgraded theirs to a 9000 series card would at least point me to a working driver version I'd greatly appreciate it!

Hey everyone. same as the last couple people i have just bought this cabinet.

The cabinet was purchased as is not running. It did come with a new tv and a optiplex 7010 sff. Seems to be in decent shape. I have pulled the old comp apart and reset some of the cards and fixed some scary wiring. I got a few questions hopefully someone can shed some light on and make my life a little easier.

1. I got the old computer to boot up. It pulls the game up and gets to the Refreshing game menus screen. It stays on this screen for 30 seconds or so than goes to black screen. tv goes into power saving mode. Has anyone delt with this or have any ideas on what it could be?

2. Do i not mess around with the old computer and get the optiplex working? IF so does anyone have a walk through or able to give me an idea on what it takes?

3. I have all the cds and boot discs. I got the dongles and the card.

Thanks in advance any help would be greatly apricated.

Best bet is to join the Facebook group -- everyone there should be able to help you.

Thanks. What's the name of the Facebook group? I looked around and couldn't find anything.

Number 1 - try replacing the cmos battery. Set the date and time in the bios menu. your hard drive may be toast though. Get yourself a new hard drive and load the system restore disc and game discs again.

Number 2 - not sure what you’re asking here?

Number 3 - see number 1.
