| Track Ball - Static Electricity issue |
| (1/1) |
| cisrsb:
Hi all, I have a question about an issue which happened yesterday. I have an older SlikStik control panel which has a 2.25" Happ Control track ball in it. Yesterday I went to play it and I got a static electricity shock when I touched the metal plate around the track ball, now the 2 mouse buttons nolonger work (the trackball runs fine). I've plugged it into the other USB ports with same results. I plugged my USB mouse into each USB port and the mouse works fine so I'm guessing the mobo is fine. Do you guys think I might have fried my track ball circuit boards and would need a trackball unit replacement? Thanks for any info. Rudy |

Sounds like the static damaged the trackball usb/button interface. The plate should be grounded to your cabinet frame ground to prevent this type of damage. Most trackballs come with wires for this purpose. |

I've gone ahead an ordered a new usb interface... http://na.suzohapp.com/trackballs/56011300k.htm Hoping this does the trick. -Rudy |

Just a note to say Thanks Bob! I receive the 2 circuit panels from Happ today and once I installed them my tackball buttons were once again operational. I really appreciate your original response to my question. -Rudy |
