| Aim Trak guns with MAME & other Emulators |

In the past I tried using the guncon2mouse (and another similar project, the name escapes me now) for MAME & console emulation. I had an issue where the guns were quite off, they would not calibrate well, nor would the PC recognize them as it should. I wasn't sure if this was a software limitation, or perhaps the actual guns. I tried locally to get another pair of guns, thinking perhaps the pair I had were possibly faulty but they are not easy to find. Fast forward.............I couldn't find another pair of guns................so I've picked up a pair of Aim Trak modules to house in the GunCon2. I've done lots of reading and a ton of info exists. Many different opinios, mixed results, etc. I thought I would come on here and ask the experts about what they have found to work the best. I'd like to use the Aim Trak guns with MAME and other emulators if possible. Any info anyone can share would be great. Emulators with good light gun support ? Tools to use such as the Troubleshooter patch ? etc etc etc Thanks all |

Depends totaly on what you want. I'm using 3 aimtrak guns - two in the Namco guns (Pink/Blue from the arcades) and one Carnevil Shotgun. I run Troubleshooter for the PC version of HOTD 2 because Demul can't handle two player lightguns -> works with HOTD3 as well. I'm using mostly mame but also Model 2 (only singleplayer possible atm, Virtua Cop 1/2, HOTD 1 etc.), Demul for Confidential Mission etc., PCSXR with plugins for Time Crisis 1/Project Titan and Model 3 for Jurassic Park which actually works with 2 light guns. Setting everything up can be a PITA and the aimtrak relies on the position of the player and the way they aim. Has it's pros and cons. |

I guess simply put (or not so simple) I'd like to have as many gun games supported as I could. Regardless of emulator, system, etc. I know I've read many issues with off screen reload and game minimizing during play. With this MAME machine set up in my house for everyone to play I suspect the gun games will be a huge hit. I'd like it where things just work ! I know I saw some fixes that I DL for Model 2.......the info escapes me now, but I'll post the thread shortly. And it seems the Troubleshooter is worth an install also. |

Note that I play with crosshairs on so I can't vouch for how well AimTrak works with them turned off on any of these. I've had success with the following emulators: MAME (Arcade) SNES9X (Super Nintendo) FCEU Ultra (NES) Sega Model 2 (Arcade) Demul (Arcade) FreezeSMS (Sega Master System) I've certainly heard success stories about Playstation and will eventually check it out. I've been on the lookout for Commodore 64 and Sega Genesis emulators that work with Aimtrak but I haven't been successful yet. There's a link in my signature with most of the working games on the above emulators and some PC games as well. |
