Hello

I'm hoping someone can explain how to fix the issue of the AMI ROWE CD100 amp causing the speakers to make a loud popping sound when the power switch is turned on. I have seen some CD100s that don't make the popping sound and some that do, but not sure how to fix it. I think it has something to do with the mute not being activated when the jukebox is powered on, but not 100% sure.

Has anyone else experienced this issue and know of a solution?

Thanks in advance for any information.

Thanks Ed.

I figured that was the problem, now it is about how to fix it.  I believe the mute wire is making a good connection to the CCC (or CD Mech in newer models). So I am not sure how else to troubleshoot it.

first if i rem right ?
the trigger for mute goes to ground
i believe it is a relay.
and u  complete it by going to ground.
thats about as far as i can rem with out chking master manauls
but if u want i will ?

1=will tell u if cc is not triggering it
2=will tell u if the mute circuit need's rebuild >common<

Make sure that the amplifier is plugged into the amplifier socket on the power supply.

I agree with the mute circuit connection, I think there may have been a mod on the CCC but can not confirm this.

Thanks guys.  I will also check the schematics and find the mute circuit relay. I am assuming the relay is either in the CCC or the amp itself.

I appreciate your help.

i went looking today
mute is in the amp
it is a tranister
j8 tie's to it
orange on 1 side
red/white on the other
both of these wires go to the mech
the mute happens in the pre amp >q15<
then it carry's on to mute control
which if u want i will look up

I will check the MPSA56 transistor on q15 to see if it is bad, but I doubt it as the mute circuit does activate between songs. It just seems that the mute control is not automatically active when the jukebox is first powered on, which gives the speakers that quick popping jolt. My MMCD1 jukebox has the orange/black wire on the CCC P13. I know in some later models the mute wire was moved to P7 on the CD mechanism.

I was starting to wonder if there was some related issue with the popping and the mute control being on the CCC and perhaps that was why the wire was later moved to the Mech. However, my CD Nostalgia also has the same wire on P13 and it does not make a popping sound (same type of CCC with v4.3 code as the MMCD1)  I'm reaching for straws here.

Thanks

is something in the timming of the mute
to understand a mute function is basily 3 things
1=to stop in rush current sound,>which u are geeting<,
this is when the main cap's are getting charged up
2=to mute the amp after song play
3=to mute well u are playing a song but do not want to reject it
if i were u i would look down stream
at the mech control or what ever is controlling the mute
as a rule if it is the ccc u can  pull the error code of it
