| Cabinet Switch to turn on computer? |

On the top of my JAMMA cabinet is a what I think is called a DPDT switch. I highly doubt this is the same type of switch that is used to turn on a computer. I'd like to utilize it for my MAME computer since it is an original cabinet part. Is it possible to wire it to the computer to turn it off and on? |

You just need a momentary push button (such as an arcade button, or test switch button, something along those lines). A lot of cabinets have service/ test switches inside, you could use one of those. |

Is it possible to wire it to the computer to turn it off and on? --- End quote --- A Double Pole Double Throw (DPDT) momentary switch will work fine for turning on a computer and you can also use it to turn on a TV/monitor that won't power up using a smart strip. Just ignore the normally closed contact on the DPDT switch (Not shown in this Double Pole Single Throw diagram. ) The switch is in green and you add the red wires. This will not work for latching type switches where you press to connect and press again to disconnect. Scott |
