I did widen my cabinet from what the actual Moon Patrol cabinet was in order to make the controls fit comfortably. My control panel is 25" wide whereas the original is only 23". You may be able to pull it off if you lost the trackball in the middle.

The TV is a KV-24FV300.

I am sorry for reviving, but this build is very relevant to my current one. I am using an actual Moon Patrol cabinet. Is your Control Panel larger than an actual MP CP? I plan on doing 6 buttons per player on mine, but wasn't sure if it would be too cramped.

Also, do you know the model number of the TV used? Thanks, and AWESOME inspiration here!
one of the layouts from slagcoin
Awesome, thanks. I actually took your control panel PDF, and used one of the layouts from slagcoin.com, and just overlayed it onto your CP, cropping your image to fit my exact measurements, and it looks like it fits fairly well, I wasn't planning on having a trackball anyway.

Do you happen to have the Sketchup files for this to share? I know that it isn't the exact measurements of my cab, but I would like to use it as a template for artwork/designing purposes.

I am a big fan of simplicity, awesome arcade!  :applaud:

In my honest opinion, probably still the best pure MAME build I've seen here since I've been here.

Troof.  Was looking at this one this morning right before I bumped Superfrogs.  I still say, if I ever clone a game from this site, gonna be this one.

I know, right? In this day and age of clones and "greatly inspired" machines, it's a shame more people don't look to this one for inspiration.

Absolutely agree. The entire theme and how it all came together on the end makes this one a BYOAC classic.

Just a post to show that Echo Base is still alive and well. Not getting as much play as it deserves though...

Beautiful cabinet. Still looks pristine.

The frontend design really works well with the artwork too.

We need more crt builds!

Quick question how did you do the bezel black around the screen? I have tried paint and vinyl but yours looks flawless.

I cut a piece of black matte board that is used in picture framing to fit around the screen and put that between the screen and the smoked plexi. The fact that the plexi is smoked and not totally clear helps the illusion of the screen image floating in a sea of black.

Very Nice  :applaud:

So the Plexi was already smoked? I was thinking I might change mine and this looks like a great idea  :D

I was wondering if I could have your permission to "remix" the decals for a 1/6th scale 3d printed arcade.  When completed, I would hope to make this public for download.   Here is a previous design I made: https://www.prusaprinters.org/prints/114617-quarter-scale-joust-inspired-arcade-with-mmu2-plat

So I am more of a lurker than a poster and have been planning for several years to build a cabinet. I have almost no creativity and so have been loosely designing a cab based on OND’s Metropolis cab. I thought I had read every build thread but never saw this one. This cab is literally exactly what I want. Like exactly. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate you posting the thread, the plans, and the graphics. I hope you are ok with a clone cab because that is now my plan.

Sincerely thank you. I also happen to be a huge Star Wars fan which makes it even better.

Sorry for the late reply. Haven't checked in here in a while. Of course, anyone is free to take what I've provided here and do with it what they will, short of selling anything for your own profit.
