Your favorite cocktail MAME cab
« on: August 24, 2012, 09:20:35 pm »
My wife gave me approval to build a cocktail cabinet and have been poking around on the forum threads based around cocktails ever since.

What is your favorite cocktail cabinet, and why?  I am looking for inspiration ;)

Pics and/or links are appreciated.

I'm following this as well since I want to do a cocktail myself.  Ideas folks!  And links to plans would be greatttt.  In memo form.

Both of these received MAMEY Awards back in the day.  They rock.  See the Mamey Page

Tom G's a coffee table was nominated for a UCA this year.

CWorley did a classic Pac Man cocktail that came out very nicely recently.

For another ultra modern take on the cocktail I'd be remiss if I didn't mention jkdubb's cocktail table project.

I really like the classic midway style like how Unstupid did his. Great job.
But that bright yellow pacman cocktail is pretty darn cool.

my advise is to decide first if its gonna be more of a deco furniture or useful arcade machine . nearly all classic designs are pita when it comes to playability. building a cocktail table from scratch is very difficult compared to other cab designs . u have to consider so many things , like hight and depth of the cab and panelsize , screensize , screentype crt or lcd (ips panel ) viewing angle ! ,  players sitting position ( most classic arcadecab developers seem to have forgotten that humans have legs or can be more than 1,50 m tall ) . reasonable screensizes are 15-21 inch vertical and 20-25(23us) inch for a 2p hori setup .

the good thing is , there is a lot of material on the inet. take all the time u need for studying pics n plans , build a cardbord mockup etc. to avoid a desaster.
