Chuck Berry

I saw him like 5 years ago at some Casino out here with Little Richard also on the bill.  Little Richard can still play and sing as well as ever, Chuck was barely hitting every other note and just kept calling out to the audience to sing the songs because he was so tired.

I can't imagine how bad he is now.  Still worth seeing a living legend I guess.  Who the hell would have believed that you could still see one of the founding fathers of Rock n' Roll in 2012.  Crazy.

I live about 5-10 minutes from the Bel Air where he spied on chicks, now a college owns it, fitting.

The dude performs in STL often

Eh I dunno.  When you can't play anymore it's time to retire so people can remember you when you were awesome.  Nobody wants to go back in time and see "fat Elvis" play.

Last year my wife and I saw Don Rickles and Joan Rivers.  Rivers was still amazing and was nonstop energy for 50 minutes.  She pwned the place.  Don Rickles could barely stand up, kept losing his place, and his whole act was centered around being friends with people who died before half the audience was born.  He actually repeated the first 3 minutes of a segment of his act and someone had to come out and tell him he had done that already.  It was pretty sad to see.

I saw Don Rickles open for Frank Sinatra about 18 years ago, and the roles were reversed. Rickles was funny and sharp, and Sinatra at times seemed confused and forgot whole lines. I'm glad I went because Sinatra is a legend, but it was also sad to see.
