| New J-Pac. Having problems |

I recently decided to revive my old Mame machine I built nearly 10 years go. I bought a new J-pac to run the controls but I'm having issues. - Problem. None of the buttons or joysticks connected to the Jamma harness are working - The extra buttons I have wired directly to the J-pac DO function. Things to note. - When I plug in the J-pac I get a shot flash followed by a steady which should mean all is well. - I'm not connecting a monitor to the J-pac. I'm just using a laptop for testing - I don't have a cabinet right now. I'm running everything with the control panel I took off the cabinet which has Jamma harness, an opti-pac and a J-Pac. - The controls were all contented and functioning properly at one time. - I don't have a power supply of any kind connected to the Jamma harness. I think it may be something with the Jamma ground but It's been awhile and I'm not sure how I should ground everything. Any ideas? |

It sounds like you need to connec pin 1, pin 2, pin A or pinB to the control panel. To test you could use a jumper wire and short pin A to pin Z to see if the letter 'a' is output. This is player2 button 1. You could do the same thing for pin 1 to 22, but the output would be 'left control'. Use winIpacIPD software in test mode to see if you are making connections. http://www.ultimarc.com/winipac_ipd.html |

Thanks for the direction! I finally got things to work by running a wire from pin 1 to the ground on one of the player 1 buttons. Now I just need to figure out how to correctly ground this sucker. Any idea how/where I need to do that? Thanks again, |
