Regular white LEDs never work for GI.  Makes everything blue.  It looks worse in photos than in person, though, so that probably isn't quite as bad as he says.

Didn't you hear?  LEP man bought a dmd pin and lost all his indie cred overnight. 

That is a little harsh looking in the pics.  Bummer to get so many LED's if you don't like the look.  It would be interesting to play with though- can you put color condoms on the insert lamps?  Can you just put them on GI or just inserts and use incandescents elsewhere?

At the very least replace the GI with Warm White or back to incandescent 47s.  Blue GI is awful.

dunno, not minding it so much myself. it does turn a rather old boring looking playfield into something that looks more modern like a stern transformers.

This is all I was trying to get across, and the rest of your explanation is irrelevant.  Maybe YOU are more objective in your old age, but on the whole, young and old are pretty much tied for 1st place in the "don't think anything outside of 'their time' is any good" department.
