10 by my count. Unless, I suppose, you're only counting good ones or something.

I have never understood why people have to be into either Star Wars or Star Trek.  The rivalry thing is the most annoying aspect of both of them.

I think there are a couple of different dynamics at play. First, Star Wars is totally mainstream. Almost every guy likes the original trilogy. Star Trek (and the people who like it), on the other hand, is ridiculed by the cool kids. But the people who watch it are like, "What's wrong with you people? Star Trek shares all of Star Wars's good qualities, but Star Trek is a smarter, superior franchise that more consistently turns out entertaining movies (not to mention hundreds upon hundreds of good TV episodes). How can you make fun of Star Trek in one breath and adore Star Wars in the next?" In other words, the Star Trek fan's Star Wars hate is more-or-less a defense mechanism.

The other thing, which is related to the first sort of, is that it's often not an either/or thing, but a comparative thing. Star Trek fans almost unanimously like Star Wars original trilogy. They may think Star Trek is better, but they still have a deep affection for Star Wars. It's only a very small minority of Star Trek fans who think that Star Wars is total garbage. The opposite isn't true, of course, but that may have to do with the stigma of Star Trek. Many people have no desire to give it a chance because it's so dorky. And, while Star Trek is great, the culture that has developed around it couldn't possibly be more embarrassing, so the stigma is sort of earned. But, at any rate, rather than an either/or thing, it's often more like a chocolate/vanilla thing. Just because you think chocolate is the best doesn't mean you don't like vanilla ice cream.

I'm about the same.  I'm 37 and just watched The Empire Strikes Back for the first time a few months ago.
It just happened to be on TV as I was flipping channels.  I didn't realize that I hadn't seen it until I watched it for a bit.   :lol

I haven't seen any of the newer ones.  (don't watch many movies)

I'm sure I've seen spaceballs a couple dozen times.
Keep firing ---uvula--- !
