Connecting PS2 To Hantarex Polo 33" Monitor

(1/2) > >>

Japedo:
I tried searching but have came up empty handed, I apologize if this is a common question.  Due to the lack of information I've been able to find.  I have come to the conclusion, it is either incredibly easy, or just impossible.

I have a Tekken 3 33" showcase cab.  I would like to run a PS2 in it.  How do I convert the video signal from the PS2 to 15hz RGB.  If there is a how to, please point me in the right direction.  Thanks for all input.

MonMotha:
The common way is to hack up a PS2 SCART cable.  You can use an LM1881 (the app circuit in the datasheet works fine) to strip composite sync off the CVBS wire (usually yellow).  You can then set the PS2 component output to RGB in the shell menus (changed from the default of YPbPr) and hook the outputs straight up to the monitor's RGB inputs.  You can power the LM1881 circuit from the 5V output of the PS2 (it's usually a brown wire, IIRC, but check).

You can also hack up a standard set of component cables the same way.  Sync is also available on the green video signal.  You'll need 5V from somewhere.

The signal levels are only 0.7Vpp broadcast/PC standard, while arcade monitors expect much higher (~3Vpp).  You may need a video amp, or you may be able to just crank the contrast control up a fair bit.

This item looks much easier to install than the scart/ lm1881 hack, I'm assuming it is just plug and play.  Other than ease of installation is there a quality/performance difference?

Also, how do I tap into the audio?  The volume control is on the PCB board.

I apologize for all the noob Q's.  Thanks for the help so far it is appreciated.

SNAAKE:
I never used it I really dont know about quality. you will an amlifier to hook up audio from the ps2 component cable.
