Wire color for parallel cable pinout?
			unclet:

I am using 25-pin parallel cables to wire up my cab.  I cut one cable in half and I was assuming there would be 25 wires inside (one for each pin) but there are 36 wires total (18 pairs of wires).
I am trying to figure out which colored wires map to the 25 pins of my cable.   I searched online but could not find any pictures or information which will tell me the color -> pin mapping for a 25pin parallel cable.
Will someone please post this mapping for me?
Thanks

You really don't need to know the pin outs, just make sure that whatever you hook to P1 button 1, P1 button 2, etc.  hook to the same colors on the other end.  I started mapping out all the pins with my multimeter when I thought...duh...you don't need to do this!

Good point...... however, which 25 wires (out of the 36 total wires inside the cable) are actually wired to the 25 pin of the cable?   I would not want to use the 11 wires which are not really connected anywhere ...
correct?

It does matter if you plan on using the end connectors and not just the wires though.
That would be the Centronics interface (36-pin).  Lots of stuff on the 'Net.  Look here.   You can compare those pin-outs to the standard parallel port.
I could be wrong but as far as I know there is no standard for the colors of the wires inside.  Depends on the manufacturer.   You'll have to test which pin goes to which color.
Edit:
I just looked at the bottom of the Centronics page and see they have the 25-pin mapping right there.

No, it wouldn't.  Centronics is the printer end.  He's probably using the db25 parallel port end.
Wire color is not standard on it like ethernet.  Just get a continuity tester (batter, wire, and a light bulb) and figure out the wires.
